No SEC team got a single first place vote. That’s crazy.

Polls shouldn’t be released until November.

They only exist in its current form for networks to promote "Top 25 Matchups" and draw eyeballs.

This is true, but I think there is a happy medium. First week of October should be first polls. Still get the poll hype factor for most of the season and you have more informed first polls of the year.

I think this year we really, as a conference, need to shut up the country. We've laid some post season eggs recently.

Ole Miss has no business being a top 10 team. Reports out of their camp is their OL is putrid.

Outside of Chambliss and Lacy (Very good) they don't have much. They downgraded of course at HC and OC so will be interesting to see if their defense can keep them in the top 10.

Vegas has their O/U at 7.5 for a reason

It punishes and gives credit to teams all year that were ranked incorrectly in preseason. A team that's preseason top 5 can look like shite and still be top 5 if they eke out wins against crap opponents. Same is true for teams unranked that look really strong.

So true. Week four should be the first week of actual rankings.

I can't think of one single reason A&M should be ranked above Ole Miss. I'm fine wherever Ole Miss lands in these rankings but you've got to have literally one reason to rank someone over someone and there's not a position group A&M has that's better than OMs

Alabama has four games on its schedule against teams ranked in the preseason AP Poll, and all four are consecutive:

vs. No. 3 Georgia (Oct. 10)
@ No. 20 Tennessee (Oct. 17)
vs. No. 8 Texas A&M (Oct. 24)
@ No. 11 LSU (Nov. 7)

Texas will be in trouble when Jayden looks at this ranking.

Penn State was ranked #2 this time last year. 2 votes short of being ranked #1. Remind me again where Franklin coaches this year?

Funny but I don't remember SEC fans being all upset about pre-season rankings when it stacked a bunch of SEC teams at the top creating the cycle where SEC conference losses were "good losses" and propping up both teams' rankings next week.

The expanded playoff format was tough on the SEC. Now you have to earn it on the field.

Sounds personal. Who knows. What position group rankings are you looking at?

But A&M has pretty good depth in multiple position groups. Maybe that’s it.

Why does that matter in BAMALAND? Did BAMA win the NC? You can start there, you can finish there.

On the other hand, if the Villes could just duplicate the expectations of BAMA this decade, you people would be walking around like it's the 1990s all over again.

so cringe to see fans bitch about how they are disrespected in a meaningless poll. Or brag because they are so high.

Not SEC related, but first time since 2011 that Clemson is not pre-season ranked in AP Poll.
