Everyone saw this coming except DeBoer. I respect the confidence though. Dude restructures his contract for a nice raise but sacrifices the buyout protection, meaning he loses money long-term if things go south.

Alabama is basically back to where they were before Saban — irrelevant. Even a lot of Bama fans seem to realize it. The writing was on the wall when Saban bounced, and their latest recruiting class has people nervous.

For those of us with only passive interest, what are some more recent signs of the slide? Has Walmart Alabama merch/inventory noticeably dropped? Anyone seeing fewer Alabama stickers on cars these days?

What other signs of the impending collapse have you noticed?

I wouldn't call it irrelevance but the Alabama fan defense of a guy who lost 8 games in two years has been...something, considering the guy took over a semifinal team.

Then he received an extension and raise for getting destroyed in 2 of his last 3 games.

And they defended that. But hey, he beat Kelly and Freeze I guess.

Not sure if this is a sign of irrelevance, but Captain Dolt and Another Huge Melt21 make way more threads about lsu athletics than they do about Alabama.

Just played in the SECCG and won a playoff game. Most recent recruiting signing class was top 3.

90% of the SEC would kill for our irrelevance.

Don't cry for us Argentina.

For a team of irrelevance, we do seem to occupy a significant portion of your mental energy.

Truth be told, I no longer care. The game I once loved died with Covid. I'll still cheer for Alabama in the fall but I am no longer invested like I once was.

Id say that the biggest sign has been negative rushing yards in a championship game.

Pre Saban? Bama won a natty in 92 15 years prior to Saban. That is like two dog years guys.

Their last title of relevance was during a worldwide shutdown.

LSU fans will do anything to believe the Bama of 00-07 was the norm for that program, ignoring the crippling sanctions, shitty coaches (Mike Dubose and Mike Price, anyone?), etc.

The truth is Bama is the only program in to win a SEC title every decade our beloved conference has been in existence. Sure, Bama may not be as dominant as they were under Saban or Bryant, but to act like they’ll turn into Nebraska is absurd.

Class of 2026 Recruiting Rankings

Second highest rated class in the conference with the most 5-stars.

Who is nervous about that?

The fact that recruiting rankings are a badge of honor for morons like Big Al Goulash, and well I guess you, is peak little brother.

As has already been mentiond many times in this thread, bama will never be too down for too long. Hisotry has shown us that for 100 years. Even in their last long period without a natty from 93-08, they still played in multiple SECCGs, multiple 10 win seasons (so probably the equivalent of like 11/12 these days), and multiple top 15 finishes.

2 things can both be true. Bama currently is nowhere even close to the juggernaut they were with saban, and they are still also a better program than 100+ other teams right now.

When you completed the greatest Dynastic run in college football history with Saban, you are naturally going to experience a let down of being less relevant than the team that ran college football for 15 years.

1993 - SEC West champions, 9-3-1 top 15 finish
1994 - SEC West champions, 12-1 top 5 finish
1996 - SEC West champions, 10-3, top 15 finish
1999 - SEC champions, 10-3, top 10 finish
2002 - 10-3, top 15 finish (Coaches poll)
2005 - 10-2, top 10 finish
2008 - SEC West champions, 12-2, top 10 finish

They had a few stinker years in there (2000, 2003). They also had many more mediocre years (1998, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2007).
