bruce hog you must be young, not to know the LSU defensive line was near all gone. Auburn tried to take out the best DL in the country in that game, and he played hurt the rest of the year.
LSU beats Ohio St, mainly because one DL made it back to play in that game.
The BS calls in the SEC that year are awesome to watch in reruns, many no calls and far to many phantom calls.

As I recall, every traditional power in the top ten that year had at least 2 losses. Within the framework of the way college football chose its National Chamionship that year (BCS), the title is legit. But that LSU team has to rank near the bottom of national championship teams.

Ok shithead. Who else deserved it that season? As everyone else also had two losses or more. The idiots easy answer is UGA, also a 2 L team, but let’s examine.
LSU finished with a nation’s best 4 wins over teams in the final AP poll. UGA had only two… but the biggest reason is LSU had an extra win (hence a higher winning %) because they played for and won The SEC Championship, a game UGA failed to qualify for.

It really doesn’t matter if you consider 07 LSU to be the BCS national champion. There is objective evidence that they were. They won the BCS championship game=BCS national champions.
If you’re being honest with yourself…..you would drag your bare nuts a mile across broken glass and apple cider vinegar for Arkansas to have a 2 loss national title.

Were they a participant in the game under the rules/structure of the system in place?
If the answer is Yes, you can stop there.
The "challenge" to the inflated NC claims of some schools is based on that from which the claim arises.
Pre-BCS/CFP, UPI or AP was/is the gold standard. Split championships are just that.
But claiming a non UPI/AP championship for some obscure poll is shakier.
