Auburn had some serious NFL talent that year. Ronnie Brown, Cadillac, Carlos Rogers, Jason Campbell, and Jeremiah Ratliff all played a long time in the league. Acting like USC would routinely blow them out is kinda silly

Not really. Auburn was punished getting their asses kicked by USC in back to back seasons.
That 2003 game, USC skull fricked them and the voters punished Auburn for it.

The other thing to consider about Carroll's USC teams is that they were money in big games. From 2002-2008, when they lost, it was either because they played down to a terrible opponent or because Vince Young turned into God in cleats.

Well, they did play in 2003.
Comparing two different teams from two different years is a bad take. Alabama beating Clemson 24-6 in 2018 does not equate to Clemson winning 44-16 in 2019. Both with very similar rosters and identical playbooks from the previous years.

We all know what happened when Obomanu had the chance to catch a game winner

If you don't think that had something to do with what kept Auburn out of the title game that year then you are in denial. Many voters no doubt remembered that 23-0 shellacking Auburn took in Jordan-Hare in 2003 when they were filling out their final ballot.

and the voters punished Auburn for it.
you're about as dumb as CNITE

THIS.
You just exposed the thought process for the Tide posters, here, that go batsht crazy when LSU/Auburn/Tennessee mention their championship seasons. It's like they think they claim a birthright to those championships too and will retroclaim them on their media guide when no one's looking.

Different day. USC always had a motivation problem under PC, nobodies could sneak up on them.
When you got USC's full attention, they weren't going to lose unless, you had Vince Young on your team.
Young probably wasn't ready at that point in his career. So once again, no college team was beating USC that night.

It was one game you hayseed. I'm going to assume you graduated from Ole Miss and not say anything else. Congrats on your victory in 2003.

Oklahoma had a terrible secondary all year. Reggie McNeal injured himself from throwing too many TDs against them.

USC also dodged Vtech and Cal that year, also UCLA I believe.

No debate. Auburn was the National champion in 2004

Auburn winning by one with 18 seconds left is the most Auburn-like simulation ever.

They played VT basically on the road to open the season (Redskins stadium) and beat them 24-13. VT ended up being a very good team.
Cal might have been the 3rd best team in the country that year. Their QB was some guy named Aaron Rodgers. He might have been kind of good.
UCLA was bad but that is a rivalry game and it was 29-17 until they got a late touchdown.

USC would skull frick them again, USC owns the Barns’ arse.
Don’t give me the bullshite of USC squeezing by in a couple of late night PAC-12 games that year, they sleep walked through the regular season because they could. When prime time came on in a big game they were money.
No voter wanted to see USC boat race Barn for the 3rd time in as many seasons.

They scored a TD with 2 min left to win by a TD in 2002... With Daniel Cobb under center.
They kicked our arse in 2003 at home, but 2002 was a pretty close game.
