USC 2004 beats Auburn 2004 by 3 TD's. Carroll would have coached circles around Tupperware. That Auburn team was good, but overrated. USC was absolutely loaded with talent and very well coached.

Ehhhh. Again. That 04 USC team should have lost to Oregon State. Both Auburn and USC played VA tech. USC won 24-13 but the score was 14-10 at the start of the 4th. Auburn was up 16-0 at the start of the 4th and went on to win 16-13. To say Auburn would have lost by 21+ is just Forrest Gump level retarded. Would have been a GREAT game.

I'm not big on the transitive property stuff, but by your own admission USC beat Va Tech by more than Auburn. Doesn't help your case little barner

I was at the 2004 Iron Bowl. Bama was wayyyyy down, with Spencer Pennington at QB Auburn was nothing special and struggled to an 8 point win. USC beats Auburn going away.

Every person I've met in the state that actually calls Auburn fans "barners' have 5 teeth and junior high education.

2004 Iron Bowl

This is what killed Auburn's chances at making the Orange Bowl that year. Alabama's offense had sustained massive injuries and was down to its third string QB. Alabama shut out Auburn in the first half, going into the locker room with a 6-0 lead. Auburn, of course, would go on to score three consecutive touchdowns and win the game 21-13, but Alabama should have never been in that game. Auburn needed a blowout win to impress the pollsters and instead struggled, thus allowing Oklahoma to take total control of that #2 spot behind USC.

USC wins that matchup 8/10 times

And I say that as someone who was pissed for Auburn that Oklahoma got in instead

Well, they did play in 2003.

Southern California used a smothering defense to turn a much-hyped matchup into an ugly mismatch.

Matt Leinart passed for 192 yards in his first start and the eighth-ranked Trojans set up 17 points with three turnovers in a 23-0 season-opening win over sixth-ranked Auburn.

The Tigers never got past USC's 33-yard line and were outgained 315-164.

you were probably selling punts if you were at the Iron Bowl. AU-USC Game would have been a tossup.

That game was played in absolutely ridiculous conditions. That's a hard one to hold against them.

Nobody wins these debates but I sure wish it had been Auburn, for better or worse.

Soooooo much hype for PAC and B1G to shut the SEC out after those pre WWII Rose Bowls. Couple that with OU's high scoring offense hype till they ran into Tim Tebow and the Gator D.
