Well, probably 8-9 of them were 2019 LSU.

Just ask them.

ETA: Actually no need to ask. They’ll tell you anyway.

1. 1959 Ole Miss 10-1 allowed 21 points on the season and 14 came from short fields after turnovers.

And if you have to ask where the other 7 came from, you need to turn in your Rant card and go do something else.

That no touchdowns given Vol defense that one year was sort of okay, I guess.

Yes you are correct. LSU 2019s defense has 8-9 of the top ten defenses in history

Gotta give a s/o to the ‘92 Tide defense. Man they were fun to watch.

As far as the modern era is concerned, you have to give a shout out to the 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide football team. They were the last defense to lead the nation in all four major defensive categories (total defense, rush defense, pass defense, and pass efficiency defense). I believe they allowed something like 186 yards per game and 8.9 points per game. They were unreal. Alabama has had better defenses talent-wise since then but as far as statistics go, there has been no better defense in almost 40 years.

Bama and LSU defense of 2019 and 2020 certainly did improve as season went in but I don’t think you’ll find either fan base claiming either as a great defense of any time.

This is very well done.

Cant say for other teams cause I dont keep up with stats enough, but for Bama have to go with the 92 defense.

I think they averaged scoring a TD a game or something like that.

And only allowed an avg of 9 ppg.

So they almost scored as much as they gave up.

for LSU:

2003 LSU
2011 LSU

2019 was talent laden, ridiculously so. . .but were not good at adjusting to the pace of the offense
