Offensive tackle Coderro McDaniel committed. In-state 3*.
The 6-foot-7, 325 pound prospect chose the Rebels over notable early offers from Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi State, North Carolina and Kansas.

Of the 2027 in-state class, the top 7 are front seven or OL players.
We need them all.
We need them all.

We seem to be trending for a number of them.
We are also looking to get bigger on both lines. The center commit we took is 6'4. The OT we just took is 6'7. The DE from Illinois we just got is 6'4 (who we took over Fields who is "only" 6'2).
Seems Pete thinks we need to get substantially bigger on both lines.

Elite depth on the DL and in the front seven is the only way to consistently win in this conference. We've been losing out on in-state front seven guys for years. It's majorly frustrating.
Ole Miss signees/total in-state four-star or greater front seven players
2026 - 1/5
2025 - 1/3
2024 - 4/5
2023 - 1/3
2022 - 2/5
2021 - 0/1
2020 - 1/3
2019 - 0/7
2018 - 0/2
2017 - 0/1
Total - 10/35 (28.6%)
I know recruiting is different now with NIL and the portal, but damn, it's frustrating to lose these elite in-state defensive lineman.

It has always been aggravating when an elite prospect leaves to go to Florida or Georgia. Cam Akers and Nakobe Dean immediately come to mind.

To me, it's more annoying when they go to Schtate.
Look at the dynamite defensive players they've had just since 2009, all from tha 'Sip.
Johnthan Banks (Thorpe Award winner)
Fletcher Cox (future NFL Hall of Famer)
Pernell McPhee (via JUCO, but played in 141 NFL games)
Benardrick McKinney (Pro Bowler)
Chris Jones (future NFL Hall of Famer)
KJ Wright (Pro Bowler)
Jeff Simmons (Three-time All-Pro, arguably on his way to the Hall of Fame)
Gabe Jackson (136 NFL games played)
Denico Autry (via JUCO, but played in 154 NFL games)
Willie Gay, Jr. (89 NFL games)
JT Gray (103 NFL games)
Jonathan Abram (55 NFL games)
Conversely, here are our best Mississippian defensive players since 2009:
DJ Jones (via JUCO, but 125 games played)
I know we've won more games than them recently and our program looks to be in a better place, but we still miss on a ton of in-state, front seven talent.

Perkins, Echoles and Franklin changed all that

Sounds like 4* Safety Darrell Mattison has flipped from Michigan to Ole Miss. From Chicago Illinois

Jiyez Fleming has decommitted. To be honest, it sounds like he was processed more than anything (to date we are his only P4 offer).

Glad my parents didn’t name me Jizz

Would be a massive recruiting win for us if we pull it off. He's been trending towards Ohio State though for a while now.

Love Keegan Croucher recruiting for us. Seems like a good kid.

We can always get him in a couple of years from the portal if we miss this cycle

On commitment watch according to Pete's Twitter. A lot of big recruits on campus this weekend.

4* CB Tae Mayo. Top 3 CB in Texas from Lewisville
Over LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, A&M, and Ohio State.
Hopefully this helps us in the future with his cousin Marcus Ketchup.
