2019 LSU did have a decent year in 2018, so you could make that argument for them that it wasn't a one hit.
The same team the previous year lost THREE games :puke:

3 National Championships in that time frame, 5 Sec championships, but sure lets call the last one a one hit wonder
I'm guessing it's more about the quick rise and extreme fall that followed rather than it talking about what has happened over the past 20 years.

I'm not sure 247Sports knows what a "One Hit Wonder" really is. Several of these are quite a stretch.
People are overthinking this. It's not meaning you cant have other good or even little similar seasons, it's more about "wow, that team stood out compared to the rest".
2019 LSU stood out because they went 15-0, dominated the playoffs, won just about every award that was given out, had a historic offense, QB, receiver corps, etc...Sure we won some other titles and had other really good seasons, but in 10-20 years when people think back, that 2019 LSU team will stand out compared to any other LSU team from 2000-2020 easily. It's accomplishments that stand out far above others (compared to your other teams) in a similar time frame.

2014 MSU should be on there

I think Tennessee’s 07 team should make the list. It was their only 10 win team in the past 15 years.

The sad thing about this post, is I know there are actually those in your fan base, especially the younger ones, that truly believe this line of thinking

Since the OP is lazy

So going back to the start of the 2000s, which teams check in as the top one-hit wonders of college football? It's not a simple question to answer, but we identified -- in chronological order -- 10 teams this century that rose from mediocrity or being on the cusp of the next level to title-contender seemingly overnight, only for it be a short-lived stay in the upper echelon of the sport. While there's no exact science to this list, we did establish some ground rules: Any "one-hit wonder" season had to see the said team reach double-digit victories, and the team had to see its win total drop by multiple games the ensuing season. Double-digit wins in the season directly after the "one-hit wonder" candidate season also served as an automatic disqualifier. So as magical as the 2016 season was for USC, Penn State and Washington, none of those teams made the list when considering the thresholds they reached in 2017.

Wasn't really a "quick rise" since LSU went 10-3 in 2018 with a lot of the same players then basically the entire team left after 2019.
Interesting that 247 regards 2017 Miami going 10-3 as "good" in the same graphic.

Oh well thats just dumb then to only look at the following season and not a prior season
But still, i still say a one hit wonder is simply a team that stands out above the rest clearly over a certain time frame. Merely looking at the following season is absolutely dumb if it's a great team the year prior. Weird criteria there

2020's team was not at all even close to being the same roster.
Other than Deculus & Stevens, not a single starter against Ole Miss last year started the National Championship.

So even though it's a completely different team, it still plays a factor in the previous year being a one-hit wonder. Yeah, that makes sense.

Yeah, it’s a shame that Texas couldn’t even make the list with these teams.

Y’all lost 3 games and gave up 74% of 100 points to Texas aTm.
That’s about as far as it gets from upper echelon.

Trying hard I see.
But point is using that criteria one could have gone 12-2 the prior season and still be a "one hit wonder" if you go 15-0 and then say 7-5 the next season after. If their main criteria is merely looking mostly at a following season, that's pretty dumb.

are we still posting this for dramatic effect and ingoring the game went to 7 OTs?

Except the same graphic has multiple 3 loss teams considered as "wonders."
It can't be both.

They say that they considered the prior season too

Someone didn't do their research, 247 is usually pretty good but this is pretty low IQ.
