It is just interesting to me how to define “one-hit wonder” in college football.

Since 2000, LSU has 3 national titles and 5 conference titles. They’re easily the most successful program on that list. They’ve definitely have a problem with following up a national title season though. Of their national title defense seasons, LSU only finished with double digit wins in 2012.

2021 is a BIG season for the Coach O program. He could be heading down a primrose path if he can’t compete at a high level this year. I think Coach O deserves a bit of a mulligan for dealing with a ton of staff and roster turnover with no Spring camp in 2020. No such mulligan this year. A lot of young players got significant snaps in Fall 2020.

It's ok to disagree with the criteria, but based on it 2019 LSU fits the bill.

In what way?

The comparison of 2016 Miami and 2017 Miami with 2018 LSU doesn't.

I feel like the writer of the article created the entire concept to troll the LSU fan that wants 2019 to mean more than it does. It was a National Title what else can you glean from it, but the author seems to know how sensitive they'd be to it.

The author doesn't seem to know what a "one hit wonder" is.

Per the article a team that rise from mediocrity or on the cusps of title contention to a double digit title contending or winning year only to fall back to below double digit wins.

12 pages of mostly legitimate debate... I would have never guessed it. Weird to see.
