Interesting they didn't pick the season where A&M finished highest during the time frame.

You don't understand why?

I'll bite. LSU went 10-3 in 2018. Finished 6 in AP and 7 in Coaches. Guess going from top 10 to National Champ makes you a one hit wonder.

5-5 makes it a one hit wonder.

2018 LSU went 10-3.

2020 LSU was damn near a completely different team.

I mean when you have a GOAT season like 2019 LSU had, I can see calling it a 1 hit wonder, not sure if that will ever be duplicated to the degree that was, until of course we continue to add more games

The next year all the defense left, key players got hurt, and they still won the Peach Bowl and finished ranked. After 13 the team was completely different. It’s college football that’s what happens.

The "team" really only had two years together, 2018 and 2019. So 10 wins and then undefeated.

2020's team was not at all even close to being the same roster.

Don't spoil the gump aggie circle jerk please. Let them finish before you pull them off of each others legs.

Probably because there's nothing wondrous about your best wins being over a pair of 4 loss teams.

That doesn’t really make sense for LSU...The graphic says “since 2000”

Maybe you just have trouble understanding? Since the year 2000, these have been the teams that were one hit wonders.

Teams, not programs. 2019 LSU did have a decent year in 2018, so you could make that argument for them that it wasn't a one hit.

It was a covid year. They played more conference games. Teams got more losses than usual because they didn’t have OOC to boost the title. Fairly simple explanation. We had a 6 win team make the playoffs. Get it?

They didn't have 2020 Aggie on there because they haven't followed it up yet.

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on the rant.

Here are a few examples:

2019 Baylor

So the 2019 Baylor team that finished ranked #13 was a "One Hit Wonder" despite the fact that it finished exactly #13 also in 2011, 2013, and 2015.... not to mention a #7 finish in 2014.

Somehow finishing in the Top 13 in 2019 is the "One Hit Wonder" despite the fact that they also did it 4 other times in just a 9-year period. Sure. Okay.

2019 LSU

Okay, so LSU doesn't win a National Title EVERY YEAR. Well neither does Alabama or Clemson. But during this very time period of 2000-2020, LSU has not one but TWO additional National Titles (2003 & 2007).... not to mention a total of seven seasons in which they finished in the AP Top 6.

2010 Auburn

Again, yes Auburn had ONE National Title during the period, so I guess if you want to call it a "One Hit Wonder" you could. But so did Oklahoma (2000), Miami (2001), Texas (2005) and Florida State (2013).... why aren't those teams "One Hit Wonders" on this list?? Oh, was it because they played for other National Titles during the period? Well so did Auburn. They played in another Title game just three years later in 2013.... not to mention a third Top 2 finish during the period back in 2004.

I'm not sure 247Sports knows what a "One Hit Wonder" really is. Several of these are quite a stretch.

So if we’re going by teams, and considering every season of every program has only 1 unique team, wouldn’t every team in history technically be considered a 1-hit wonder under these parameters?

It’s kind of a weird graphic IMO, could have been done better. Including LSU made it odd.

How many losses did that 6 win team have? Oh, 0 entering the playoff you say?

Again, there was nothing wondrous about A&M's season last year. It was a train wreck year for the SEC for the most part, and you guys navigated the mediocrity well, got a beatdown by the 1 really good team you played. I guess it's something to celebrate over there but again, not sure why you expect it to even be considered "wondrous" when your best wins were over a pair of 4 loss squads.

The 2012 A&M team beat somebody, thats why they got on there.

I don't understand what you aren't getting about this. I think you are trying to over analyze this way too much. One hit wonder - team comes from nowhere and has an amazing season, then follows it up with trash.

So Auburn 2010: 2009 - mediocre but trash, 2010 - kick arse, 2011 - trash. That 2010 team was a one hit wonder.

For LSU, I already said you could make the argument they aren't because they were good in 2018.
