The death of Pistol Pete Maravich, he left us much too soon.

Completely agree and would also mention the wreck and eventual death of the greatest Linebacker to ever play the game of football( college or pro)DEREK the sack monster THOMAS!
Both way too soon......??

A forgotten game is 2011 South Carolina.
It was the week after the Boise State debacle. We totally dominated the game and the Gamecocks won off of a pic six, a fake punt return, and fumble return for touchdowns. I was in Sanford stadium that day and it was the most sickening loss I’ve ever seen there.
That game was wild. Seeing freshman Clowney toss Aaron Murray like a rag doll was awesome.

In this order:
1. Losing to Cal St. Fullerton in the 2004 CWS finals
2. Losing to Texas Tech on the Crabtree catch in 2008
3. Losing to Colorado in the 2001 Big 12 Championship Game
4. Watching Syracuse throw down highlight reel dunks in the final minutes of the 2003 Final Four semi finals
5. Getting screwed over against Zona in 2nd round of the Big Dance in 2011
6. Colt going down against Bama in Pasadena
7. @USC in 2017. Would've made Ehlinger a legend in his second start ever

This game for about 1000 reasons. Not sure that loss can ever be topped in my heart

2016 title game to Clemson.
That was the best team Nick Saban has ever assembled
Agreed. Still bewilders me that Saban's only undefeated NC team in 2009 is probably the worst (or I guess least best) national title winner at Bama since he's been there.

21-0 hurt especially because of the stakes and how the game transpired, but I would say 2012 was much more heartbreaking. The way the 2012 game was lost, after the atmosphere and everything surrounding it, was truly crushing. If LSU wins in 2012 it doesn't make up for the embarrassment of the National Championship game, but it does a ton for the psyche of the program and the fanbase
Very well put. From an outsider - it seemed that Yeldon touchdown was the first domino to fall for Les Miles. LSU was never really a threat for a national title in November the rest of his tenure there.

FSU 2013- team of destiny derailed
LSU 1988- Hodson destroys our NC chance with a 4th down miracle
UA 1985 Van Tiffin nails a mile- long field goal to snatch victory
Virginia in the 2019FF. Gut-wrenching
UGA 1986- Fullwood's legs were still churning, and he's called down. That kept us from 11-1 and a Sugar Bowl

Stoerner fumble and foul ball that dropped are a toss up for me.

2012 Bama, no question.
I will never forget being in the student section for that game. Saturday night in Tiger stadium at its best, loudest I can remember besides maybe 2014 Ole Miss. It felt like everything was on the line and we had it with minutes left...and then it slipped away. No one went out after that game. Absolutely brutal.
But then Joe Burrow

The 2015 and 2016 Alabama teams were an absolute ridiculous amount of talent on the roster and coaching staff.
I love the 2016 team. Probably my favorite season.

If an LSU fan says anything other than the 2011 BCS title game, they are lying. It took 8 years, an undefeated national championship season, and a Heisman winning QB to put that disaster in the rear view mirror.
I totally disagree. I was not confident at all LSU would win the rematch. I knew Saban would be ready for game 2. By halftime I was numb. I was at the game and have never re-watched a single second of it. That game to me was not "heartbreaking"...
The 2012 Bama game was the most heartbreaking, and I would argue is actually the game that broke the program/Les until 2019/20.

1995 getting gang raped by Nebraska was humbling as hell as a kid
2001 Tenn loss...man if we had Graham ;/

Already been mentioned, but 2014 Auburn was hard to stomach. We would have been 8-1 and in control of our destiny in the SEC with a very manageable schedule of Presbyterian, Arkansas, and Mississippi State.
Alas, our star receiver broke his ankle while simultaneously fumbling at the goal line and killed all momentum we had that season. Still can’t believe that with all the success we had in 2014 and 2015 that we weren’t able to make an SEC Championship game appearance. Unlucky bounces and miracle plays suck.

Completely agree. 2012 regular season loss to bama I think actually hurt the program more. Everything was laid out for that game and it was won until mccarron played a perfect series. I think LSU would've won the natty that year over a soft ND team and the 2011 NC disaster would've been forgotten.
What made that game so INFURIATINGLY exasperating is that, before the last ala. miracle drive, bama had 0 first downs and 0 yards offense IN THE ENTIRE SECOND HALF.
Les lost that game after Mett hit OBJ to the bama 20 for a first down in the final 2 minutes, then promptly lost 6 yards on 3 rushing plays, then a missed FG. Why not throw another fade to Landry in the end zone like they did earlier?
LSU proceeded to mysteriously play a prevent against a team that had gained ZERO yards on them in entire second half. Putrid.
alabama was GIFTED that game like no team has been gifted.

2012 SECCG
2017/18 NCG
For some reason 2012 hurts worse. I guess watching Murray and Richt fail so often and then to be so close to almost a sure thing with playing ND just sucked. Kirby and 2017 felt kinda like the beginning of something. May have been a false feeling but there was a lot of positive things to build on for 2017.
Bonus:
2007 Tennessee/Kentucky. Tennessee loses and UGA plays LSU in 2007. I think as we were playing we were in for a hell of a SECCG and a potential National Championship. (We would have waxed Ohio St as well)

2014 to Ole Miss that kept us out of the #4 playoff spot
Meh, that was debatable. We beat bama and win the west, we face a beatable Mizzou squad in the SECG. I like those chances better.
Agree, Bama in 2014 was much more the heartbreak. Win that game and we beat Mizzou for the SECC. That is regardless of what happened in the Egg Bowl.
Which I actually think we win if we had beat Bama.
