What percentage of Bama fans do you think, know who Ray Perkins is?

Ha! So you hope and pray.

I hate to be agreeing with corn dogs at this point but he's right.
It's going to take someone with "nothing to lose." An assistant with a chip on his shoulder. Someone successful at an on-par job (eg: CLemson or A&M) is going to have a hard time leaving that for Saban's shadow.
The guy that follows the guy that follows Saban will be much easier to fill.

Ray Perkins might still be available to do it again.
You get it. It was impossible to replace the Bear and it will be impossible to replace Saban.
The next coach for Bama will be lucky to last 3-4 seasons.
The next coach after the next coach will be a critical hire for the Tide.
Why would Dabo leave Clemson? I know the Bear said “when Momma calls you go home” but in this case, I do not see that happening.
He has a great thing going, why leave that to jump into the pressure cooker at Bama where expectations will be completely unrealistic after Saban hangs it up.

The Alabama fans on this thread that think Dabo would be a bad choice because "he's not going to be Saban" are dumber than a sack of hammers.
I'm floored. Enjoy what we have and realize this is the greatest run ever and we'd be damned fortunate to replace Saban with a recruiter like Dabo who loves high scoring offenses.

Dabo would crawl naked through shards of glass all the way to T Town for that job.

I’m glad someone else agrees with me.

I mean we had that problem replacing freaking Charley Mac. You will eat each other’s children fighting over it

Dabo is a "Goober." You should do a little research into the Dubose years and Dabo was part of that. Do not want him.

I don’t really get this logic
Let’s go to the year Saban finally leaves:
If Clemson is good as they are now, would he really just go to another college team? If Clemson is slumping, will Alabama deem him fit? The timing of the scenario is important.
Alabama hasn’t lost more than one regular season game since 2010. I wonder what that’ll be like when it finally happens again.

Who turned Bama down? cfb was way different back then. It doesn't pay the $$$$ it does now, plus Bama was stuck on the Bryant tree. The next HC will likely be a young up and comer that's winning at a mid-major or lower ranked program like Matt Campbell.
That's why Greg Brynne gets paid the big bucks. Personally, I would vet Kendall Briles. By then the stank should be washed off of him.

Clemson is in the ACC. Who is the second best team in the ACC ?

Matt Campbell is more realistic.
Dabo aint leaving Clemson to follow the GOAT @ Alabama with the world's most fickle fanbase. Just becasue he went to school there for a few years decades ago,.

Dabo is the new Bobby Bowden. He has that aw shucks personality, he's from Alabama, and is known for recruiting if anything else. ACC is a joke of a conference, he's not going to leave that for SEC.

Everyone said you don’t want to be the guy who follows Wallace Wade.
Everyone said you don’t want to be the guy who follows Frank Thomas.
Everyone said you don’t want to be the guy who follows Paul Bryant.
Everyone said you don’t want to be the guy who follows Gene Stallings.
Now everyone says you don’t want to be the guy who follows Saban.
But Bama keeps finding winners. Even those who didn’t become national title winners at least had 10 win seasons and several won SEC titles.
Dabo probably would not leave today for Bama but he will crawl there if necessary in a few years when his son graduates. That doesn’t necessarily mean he will get the call. Lots can change between now and then. Either way, Bama is in position to hire another great coach. Another Saban? Probably not. But like Bryant, Saban is a once in a generation coach. Still, Bama will find a winner. There might or might not be a bump in the road but one way or another, Bama is a program that will always rise back to the top eventually. History proves it.

Dabo will be going to Bama no doubt about it.

Why would Dabo make a lateral move? Clemson will make sure that doesn’t happen.
