CAJ didn't deserve it after the final 2 weeks. Had a solid year, but the way we folded late meant he wouldn't get that type of award.

You can't tell me with a straight face that Kennedy did a better coaching job relative to the talent level on the roster than Frank Martin did.
Kennedy's seat isn't even warm. Just let it go.

Said it before. Wasn't wrong then, not wrong now
Yante Maten or JJ Frazier were worthy of a 2nd team mention

Yes really, it was close but you can't really debate that
As I said, SC was one game out of 6th place in the SEC.
A&M was the 4th highest ranked SEC team going into the season, and finished 1st.

The fricking COACHES miiiiight know a bit more than you on the players in the league bruh...
Way to get overly defensive. He's a 5'9" guard. He has a low ceiling compared to bigger guys. From when I watched him play, I didn't see anything that screamed defensive player of the year. I would have thought Kornet or Kingsley would be better options.

I'll jump in on this. I am far from a Kennedy fan, but based on what we were, where we were projected, and what actually happened then I say it is Kennedy's award. He took a team that most thought was a borderline NCAA team and turned it in to an SEC champ and looking at a 4-6 seed.

3-5 seed, if you ask me.

I was being conservative.
Bracket Matrix has us anywhere from a 3 to a 6 with an average of 4.53.

I mean if we want to get technical, we could say that A&M wouldn't of won the league with another loss. Can't really use that argument.
As I said before don't really have a problem with Kennedy getting it just thought Martin was more deserving.

Yeah this is a bs arguement. CBS and SEC had aTm preseason as #3 meaning aTm outperformed by 2 games. Same people had SC as 7 and 9 meaning SC also outperformed by 2 games. The interesting statistic that no proKennedy poster has mentioned.... Frank beat Kennedy.... on the road.

How Gavin Ware didn't at least make second team is beyond me.

So we are giving about coaching awards by one head to head match up?
Billy Kennedy built a team with transfers, freshman, an international player, and 1 in house built SR then proceeded to win the SEC & Big 12.

No issues here. They got it right.

Only one that sticks out to me is Ulis as defensive player of the year. He is a good defender but I would have thought someone like Kornet who averaged 3 blocks a game would be a better choice.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if they choose based on in conference performance or the entire season?

I think it's the entire season but I'm not sure. That's a good question.

Actually you would be misinterpreting it IMO
The best coach puts together the best team considering inherent limitations. Take this year as an example. Cal was handed the keys to the UK machine and went 13-5. Kennedy did the same thing with A&Ms brand and resources for basketball - and went 1-0 vs UK. Kennedy is more deserving that Cal.
Martin went 11-7 at SC with maybe a little less to work with as far as the things that are out of his control. The reason I take Kennedy over Martin is because Martin went 11-7 vs an extremely unbalanced schedule. SCs SEC opponents lost something like 20 more games than LSUs.
IMO, You are describing a Most Improved Coach award.

How about we start giving out participation trophies also?
