the reported death of Auburn basketball is premature at best
let me see what Steven Pearl does in the portal and what he does next year

Acuff is playing a lot of hero ball for sure and putting up big numbers
but it kind of feel like he has to for Arky to win those big games

I mean a first time head coach has you on the bubble it's not the end of the world
the losses aren't horrible, except for like Michigan and Arizona but they are killing everybody
Steven took a team his dad built and isn't getting wins out of it now is that because Steven sucks or because big Pearl knew this team wasn't going to gel and got out while the getting is good?
we'll know more next year
edit: the MARGIN of losses aren't horrible

To go from a speeding ticket to reckless driving
you gotta be going a good bit over the speed limit here

There's such a log jam at 2 and none of us have showed any finish
I think it's pretty clear Florida is taking this, we are playing for SEC tournament byes at this point

how does this keep happening?
like was there a senior class of Dawgs that would tell all the underclassmen "hey you know what's awesome? Driving really fast, like way over the speed limit. It's the best."
And then that trend just kept perpetuating itself over and over on each upcoming class of players?

LSU and South Carolina are at the bottom this is old news. Oklahoma got a big win to move to three wins! Good on ya Okies!
But the big thing to watch in the final five games is the Ole Miss Factor
Chris Beard was a hot coaching prospect who came to Ole Miss and got them to the Sweet 16 in year 2. Everything was pointing up! Then this season happened and now everything is pointing down. Way down. And after losing to Oklahoma they are in threat of losing tie breakers and claiming the crown of the SEC worst team.
I highlight Ole Miss in this weeks novel because after hosting Florida in what is expected to be a blood bath (just jinxed you gators) they HOST LSU next Wednesday. And they host host South Carolina in the final game of the season.
In this upcoming game LSU will be off hosting Alabama who just went to 2 OTs and have been playing a bit up and down, though the Tide will be favored LSU could steal a big upset here.
South Carolina with a great opportunity to get the third win against State before hosting a wounded animal Kentucky who is sick of being called a bubble team.
Okie with a great opportunity for a fourth win in hosting flailing Texas A&M and then a rapidly falling Auburn though the Barners have lost all margin for error and could be out for blood in the final five games.
So the bottom quarter of the bracket shows four teams with only 2 or 3 wins and plenty of opportunity for them to collect wins against each other. It's the final 50 ft of free fall before basketball season is over for these teams.

Billy got the ball rolling but it's really just good hiring
basketball programs can rise and fall based on who's in charge because the turnover is so quick even before transfer portal. Since 2000 they have the most successful head coach in that time frame and a guy who built a championship program in 3 seasons
it's all about hiring and they've hit blackjack twice

State and Oklahoma on the road are both very doable - Okie has played above their head at home in one or two games but I'd take Auburn
Ole Miss and LSU at home should both be auto wins for a roster like Auburn's
then you just gotta split Kentucky at home and Alabama on the road and I'd almost like your chances against us more in those two - Kentucky is a wounded animal very dangerous the next couple games

It's just insane to me that the SEC last year was the biggest conference in the land with so many great teams and this year it is pretty clear that there's one true contender and the rest of us are just hoping to get a Sweet 16
But of the contenders not named Florida I think Arky is the only one with potential for a run past Sweet 16

Florida is the only SEC team with a roster built to make a run
But it will come down to draw. None of us can bang with your size but if you run into the teams that are in the top 6.......ehhhhhhhhhh
