If he feels its time to stop then so be it. Congrats to him for a great career and good luck to whatever he does next. Cant see him just sitting around. I am sure he has some kind of plan already.
Gave us some great moments at Auburn.

I wish him nothing but the best. I would tak the cash an go get out of the current rat race with nil.
I wouldn’t be shocked if he popped back up coaching high school somewhere in a few years to scratch the itch.

Congrats Gus! Wish him well. When you sit back and look at the highlights of his HS and college coaching, he had a heck of a career. He should be proud.

He’s got some medical issues going on. One of the hs coaches I know that’s very well connected at FSU told me over a month ago he was retiring. He said Gus was forgetting what plays he was calling in the middle of the game. I’m not speculating past that because I have no idea what’s going on

he always seemed on the neurodivergent side to me, maybe its advancing
he’s earned the right to hang up the clipboard, despite how it ended here he gave us some great moments

Could be as simple as cholesterol meds.

Happy retirement Gustav, didn’t his wife have some medical issues a few years ago?

Crazy to think we are 3 coaches removed from Gus and he’s the last to win an SEC title, beat Bama or UGa.
Great Coach and probably a better human.

He was more responsible for our 2010 NC than Chizik was too. Great Auburn coach that was in the spot of coaching at Auburn when Saban was active so he didnt get the credit he deserved

His high points were amazing but overall in his 8 years he was an above average coach. He had two championship-level seasons, and 4 or 5 five loss seasons.
If he figured out a way to move past the rules changes that paralyzed his offense, or figured out a way to keep dual threat QBs active in his vision, or was able to get pocket passers more dynamic then the scoreboard would have looked a bit different in the handful of mediocre seasons as the offense more often than not could not put up points against the teams just as talented as we were.

An I'm certainly glad he had a chance to excel here and then do it again somewhere else.

He was definitely meant to be an OC and not a head coach, imo. Similar to the Muschamps of the world. Hell of a DC. Not a great head coach.
Now he gets to eat Waffle House whenever he wants.

Good luck to coach, 2010 and 2013 will always be with us!

Man when he had it going, we were unstoppable. That 2013 team after the Mississippi State game was a juggernaut. Every opponent knew exactly what we were going to do, and we did it anyway. Happy trails to Gus. He’s a good man.
