All of this was settled a while go when we announced that we would announce things after the IB, this is just Mr. Sexton spreading rumors to negotiate higher salaries.

Lane isn't leaving, Ole Miss will match and Summeral is heading to Auburn. It's just a game of how much they can inflate the salaries.

OM is getting shafted from both ends on this. Hes playing LSU against OM and OM against Auburn. Florida is in no mans land it seems.
You guys think Bama actually lets DeBoer go if they lose the iron bowl and don't make the playoffs

Im hearing Lane is a done deal
I certainly don't want Sumrall to bring in his entire Tulane staff. That reminds me of the Boise Boys where we just became a team filled with the best coaches Boise state could afford.

Auburn can afford alot better than what Tulane can.

Doesnt burn a redshirt

If deuce is the best option, we will see if Mercer makes things close in the 2nd half at all.

Rests starters, boosts Deuce's moral, gets fans interested.

Biggest risk is if Duece comes out and doesnt play well and the game gets tricky and hes got to be pulled.
Summerall is going to be Auburns next head coach.

Hes not going to coach at Auburn until Tulanes season is over out of respect for his players and their season.

Hes not going to retain DJ Durkin when he comes

Auburn needs DJ to coach his arse of the remainder of the season and help keep the roster intact especially on the defensive side.

Auburn announcing now wouldn't change anything but cause people to hit the portal quickly.

I think there is going to be a very disappointed fan base in about 5-6 years if Kiffin goes somewhere else. He has done nothing as a head coach but made Ole Miss good and there have been several coaches that have accomplished that. It ain't like Mississippi is devoid of high school football players and eerybody who matriculates at Ole Miss is hovering on the brink of insolvency....anybody that hires him after what he did to Tennessee is deserving of exactly the same wondering of the darkness....it may pan out but there is nothing other than hope and feelings suggesting it at this point.

I hope he goes to Bama then. Lane seems to be a great fit for Tuscaloosa and ALL it has to offer
Sexton is throwing DeBoers name into the PSU pot so that he can get more money for Lane at Ole Miss cause no one believes Lane is actually going to leave Ole Miss for anywhere else other than Bama.

Alabama & Deboer are pawns right now.
I think Sumrall is hired and nows hes making the case for Tulane to not make the playoffs cause that would be a terrible distraction for his team.

Brand of football - Winning
Roster retention - Critical since we have a great roster, but id rather rebuild with a winning coach then keep this team and be 6-6 again next year.
Recruiting
Drink is the best "proven" coach with SEC experience we could reasonably hire. He hasn't won many/most of his big games. You have to remember it's Mizzou. They were an annual joke of a team before him.

If Lane will come, we should certainly grab him, but I doubt he does.if Lanning will come, we should grab him. If Kirby will come, we should grab him. Realistically they wont.

There's not another coach in the SEC who's had any amount of success that will leave their team and come to Auburn. The money a winning coach will make over a losing coach for these teams is miniscule compared to the extra million or two they have to pay. Leaving means they have to start over for essentially the same pay.

Once a coach makes it in the SEC, they either gwt locked in for life or immediately get scopped up by the top teams and if they have succes in the top of the SEC, they get locked in for life by the top of the SEC.

Ole Miss & Mizzou aren't the top of the SEC, but I'm assuming Ole miss is more willing to pay what it takes.

If we have to have SEC experience, drink is our only option.

Else we gotta go risk it on an up and comer and hope they find success in the SEC

Refs are dooooooggoof shite and should get fired and bad things need to happen to their family
Daboll was arse for the Giants

Saban was arse for the Dolphins
These coaches from the north dont work out well down here.

Here’s the problem. Dilly already makes 6 mill. That means we would pay 7,8, or 9. Same thing Kiffin and Freeman make.

ND and Ole Miss are going to end up paying them both 10m+ or Auburn, LSU or Florida will get them
Yeah I doubt Lane, Lanning or Freeman come here unless we pay them 15M+

Their schools are going to match whatever we pay
