The administration was tired of the big 12 screwing OU around with the 11 am fox games of the week 4 times a year becuase every single big game usually involved OU. We got tired of playing Iowa state KSU etc . We tried to make them out as big games but in reality it was OU Texas . That’s it .
In the sec we now have games that matter weekly . Maybe 1-2 easy games a year . That crowd Friday night was fire … OU lives for the big games . It’s why unlike Texas I seriously doubt OU will ever not try and big ooc games . Those games are what makes college football great along with the big games in the sec … To much tradition at OU to run away from that .. Now 9 sec games will be hard teams will have to adapt .
Think most OU fans are 100 percent happy with the move .

Gotta be pretty cool to see games like that in Gaylord Stadium after all the years in the Big XII. OU generally only had one big game a year and that was always played in Dallas. I'm sure having huge home games multiple times a season is a major and welcome change. Glad y'all are enjoying yourselves in your new home!

Adding OU was a win-win for them and the league. History, tradition, geography, great cultural fit, and even great bbq.
And yall are a sort of cultural counter-balance to offset the uppity D-bags from Austin who never win anything of consequence.

Night games like that happened twice in Memorial Stadium that I know of, 1983 vs. nebbish and 2008 vs tech. There was the Game of the Century on Thanksgiving Day, 1971 vs nebbish but it was much smaller venue, sold out but still just 63,000 or so.
Now it's never a dull moment.

I can live with OU and Texas in the SEC. Mizzou and Arkansas make no sense. Get rid of them.

It was always interesting when OU was in the Big XII....
Home games were usually kind of flat....
Burt road games were fire. All the other teams in the conference despised OU (and Texas)... and their crowds were always jacked.
In the SEC... the environments at home are way better...
On the road, the crowds are bigger... but nobody hates us besides Missouri maybe. Arkansas kind of does... so Fayetteville might be good. A&M doesn't like OU... but it is sort of the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" type of thing.
I hope OU does well enough in the SEC that teams get to where they hate us like the Big XII teams did.

Count this season as the best you guys are going to see for a while.

I have to assume arse mechanics boy will be back for next season since there is no way an NFL team would draft him given his horrible footwork. Their schedule is pretty favorable next year since @ Michigan seems to be self immolating. They have to travel to Athens and of course play at the Cotton Bowl but the rest of the schedule is pretty manageable as the SEC goes and is probably easier than their 2024-25 sled was.

Hated losing to Texas but I like having both of them in the SEC. The amount of good games every Saturday is fantastic now. The 4 way split screen is an absolute must every week because of it.

I always felt that OU should have joined with us in 2012, not Missery.

I was cheering hard for my newly adopted team. Was a great game.
I think before all is said and done, OU will replace Auburn in the Big 6 pecking order
