He’s taking the job

The timing is unfortunate but due to the circumstances he had no choice with the timing of the decision

He offered to coach through the playoffs but Ole Miss decided it would be better to move on immediately. He understands and respects their decision

He encourages the staff and players to move forward and win the CFP. He won’t interfere and will be available if needed or asked.

Thank you to admin and fans…but this was a position that he really wanted and had to make this decision for himself and family.

That’s it…drama over

But that's the issue though.

There lies the problem.

They need to hire Mercer Bear. He visited Oxford once.

Whether Kiffin can announce that he is taking the LSU job and still coach at OM through the playoffs is not Kiffin’s decision. That is almost entirely up to Old Miss.

The real villain here is the early transfer portal deadline.

Kiffin's desire to continue to coach the team that he developed is actually admirable. Ole Miss does not have the talent to win it the NC, and Lane knows it; that makes his desire to continue to coach the Rebs in the CFP even more impressive.

Imagine watching LSU this season and thinking you have more talent than Ole Miss ...

Lane wants take 36m buyout and then take the LSU job. Well calculated.

Well, I guess that's settled then.

You’re just scared of this hire and crapping your pants. Kiffin is going to own Smart now that he has access to some elite players. Cut the bullshite.

It's funny how the situations are so different.

As a Poke, I'm hoping that North Texas wins their conference championship game and gets into the playoffs as throughout the games the commentators will keep referencing his coaching at OKST in 20026.

It's free advertising.

For Ole Miss, it's the opposite.

I remember how everyone was scared of the Brian Kelly hire, too.

Agree. Lane made his choice and that’s that.

Any remaining games for Ole Miss this season with Kiffin continuing to have coached would’ve been all about Lane and his move to LSU.

Ole Miss itself would’ve almost been an afterthought as the TV cameras focused on a shot of Lane every five minutes and his “gut wrenching decision” and future at LSU.

At least with Kiffin not there on the sidelines, some of the focus during the game can be on the Rebels players and the Ole Miss team. They deserve that. For sure, Lane will still be talked about but it won’t be near as focused on him during the game as it would be if he were there.

Again, Lane’s choice was made and he needs to be squarely focused on his new school now.
