Bama fans: when do you find out if your team is actually decent or not?

It must be really frustrating to only have played horrible cupcakes so far.
Let’s chalk the FSU embarrassment up to bad officiating, DeBoer being on his period, or a combination of the two and whatever else Bama fans typically say.
I want to hear from Bama fans on this. First ranked team? Second ranked team? Not sure you can make that call at this point.
Trolling will not be tolerated.

DeBoer hasn’t proven he can beat most teams on the road so I guess we try again in two weeks and hope FSU was just way better than anyone anticipated.

I expect to lose in Athens because UGA is probably the best team in the conference, so we won’t know till a few games later.
Since you’re trolling I will note that I seriously expect we will beat LSU. Wommack sucks so our defense is not good, but struggles most on the road against mobile qbs. We play LSU at home and Nussmeier is mobile as a fence post. Edit to note that Wommack’s defense mostly shut out LSU last year in Baton Rouge

I'm sure with all that offensive progress LSU has made since last season they have nothing to worry about when the Tigers visit Tuscaloosa.

LSU is 3-0 and two of their opponents are 1-2, including the win that propelled them to #3. Sit down and shut up David Duke.

After Bama plays Georgia and Vandy, we'll know a lot. I see rah-rah Bama fans starting to have glazed-eyes of championships because we played ULM and a depleted Wisconsin team.
Don't get me wrong, Bama has some very shining points to the team. But the question is, is it to championships levels. Just being "improved' is a very low bar of mediocrity.

5 picks and 13 offensive points against a team that has already given up it seems. Clemson is not good. At this point Louisiana Tech is LSU's best win. Say what you will about Wisconsin, but they are probably better than anyone LSU has beaten. LSU is riding on misguided preseason expectations. Winter is coming.

We have to beat Georgia in Athens.
That's the proof that this team can win a championship this year.
If we lose a close game, we're obviously still in the hunt.
This team has a LOT still to prove at this point. I think we have enough talent, but we're lacking a lot of intangibles at this point.

Not sure about this.
If Bama plays well (wins or keeps it pretty close), I think that's enough to say they're pretty good.
If Bama gets blown out, they probably aren't that great.
If it's a 14-20 point loss... it will require waiting to see.

Not trolling.
Nuss is far from immobile, he’s a 4.8 guy, it’s just a matter of whether he runs or not, which he almost never did until yesterday. He had several runs last night and they were effective. I don’t know enough about Womack, but obviously Nuss is not a dual threat. He just needs to learn to slide and has plenty of time to perfect it and keep your menstruating defense honest.
Tough to say since Bama hasn’t played anyone.

I posted this on the LSU board. 247 blue chip ratio, which first started in 2011 shows that you have to have a ratio of >50% (4 and 5 star players as a % of your roster). 3 teams have on it with ratios in the 50% range, FSU (53%) in 2013, Clemson (52%) in 2016 and Michigan (54%) in 2023. Ohio State last year had the highest ratio ever (90%). LSU won it in 2019 with a 64% ratio. Interestingly, Florida's 2025 blue chip ratio is, yep 64%.
Alabama's roster is at Ohio State's level, 89%, which is essentially what Ohio State won it with last year. So far LSU has played 2 teams with blue-chip ratios, Clemson and Florida, that have exceptional talent. Notre Dame on the other hand, with a blue chip ratio of 73% is 0-2 against Miami and Aggie, who of course have the blue-chip ratios on their rosters to win it all.
If Alabama beats UGA, then they could get on a roll, they fall to 2-2, then every game is a make or break as I don't think 9-3 gets anyone in.
FSU's ratio is 54%, which is very good, Simpson's first start on the road against a talented squad, it happens.
Alabama still has to play 5 teams with Blue Chip ratios of > 50%, LSU has 3 more (having already played 2). So does Alabama have the team to get to at least 10-2 and make the playoffs, 100% yes and so does LSU, OU, Aggie, UGA, TENN, Auburn, TENN and Texas. Just a matter of who wins these games that are played that come down to making 3 or 4 plays in the 4th QTR to win it, coaches making the right call in the clutch time, etc.
Cheers

I for one still think Bama has as good a chance as any team to win the SEC. The FSU game may have been the wake up call Bama needed. I still believe DeBoer is a damn good coach. I kind of wonder about your DC but offensively as Simpson and Grubb continue to get comfortable with each other, the sky is the limit. Just my thoughts.

I like getting that game at night in Athens but obviously Bama has had our number. If we just don’t try some new wrinkle that confuses our defense and play straight forward maybe we can break the streak.
Bama is to UGA as UGA is to TN.
