Almost as important to fire him as it is Wommack. We have gotten softer and softer every year since him became our S&C coach….including the years under Saban and Especially since that other guy left Ballou to go to The Saints.

Our S&C program needs a new direction.

We keep hearing about how strong and fast they are but we aren't seeing it on the field. I'm not sure how much of that is the S&C and how much is other stuff. I don't think they're weak

Cochran filled multiple roles including hype/energy man. Ballou doesn’t do that. With that being said; we’ve had poor play in the trenches for the most part since he has been here.

Agree 1000%. We aren’t tough at the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball. Ballou also doesn’t seem to bring any sort of energy on the sideline during games, which is sort of something I expect the S&C coach to do.

It doesn't have to be Ballou getting the players going mentally if his job definition is player strength and health. Bama since he's been here has been solid with player health and injury avoidance.

The real problem here is no one is currently filling that role.

Cochrane used to do it so the expectation is that it's the S&C coordinator's responsibility. Most schools don't have that person filling that role, but some coach is the fiery sideline guy. If you listen to AJ McCarron, we had a dead sideline on Saturday and no player or coach was adding energy. Someone has to step up, S&C coach or otherwise. As much as I hate to admit it, we need a Trooper Taylor type out there keeping energy high.

Not sure why your post got downvoted. I’ve said the same thing multiple times. The team has gotten softer since he was brought in.

Edit: I knew that would happen lol

Maybe sour grapes from Payne, but I feel like it’s appropriate for this thread.

I'm sure he feels bullet proof after beating up on New Mexico. And I don't give 2 shites what anyone related to that cheating arse Michigan program has to say.

It's literally just Michigan shite talking

The S&C hasn't been an issue in any form with Ballou. Injuries, combine performances, etc.

Nothing from saturday was an SC issue, it's just bad coaching.

And is there a disconnect between what the fans view as strength and what coaches including Saban view as strength?

I mean, it’s been a while since the defensive philosophy here involved dominating the line of scrimmage with raw power. I know fans hate that too LOL.

I don’t know how you watch that game Saturday and not think Florida State’s guys looked in way better shape.

It’s amazing to me how many people still blow Ballou on this site when the team has been markedly worse since he started except his first season which was a team he wouldn’t have developed.

I agree whole heartedly. Whatever he’s doing isn’t working.

You can squat 8000# and bench 3 tons, but when we put you back on your heels in a two point stance; what does it matter? Our softness is a matter of attitude, not aptitude.

DeBore and Wommack need to go first. Too much talk and zero results. 5-5 in the last 10 is pathetic.

This and we were mere seconds from giving away the home game to South Carolina. Just as easily 4-6.

That's not strength and conditioning. It's position coaching not teaching how to use leverage. Same with our offensive line coaching. Watch our lines and you'll notice a lot of standing up not firing through, especially on defense.
