What's the general feeling of the fanbase going into this season.

Didn't want to post this on the general board due to trolls. Was hoping for at least semi-serious input. Seems to me at least news coming out about Bama has been essentially absent in the offseason. Just wondering what the general sentiment is headed into the season.

With regards to UGA I think "cautious optimism" would be an overstatement. Given the way our run game and OL underperformed last year, coupled with the fact no coaching changes were made to address this, I think most of us are feeling pretty insecure. I don't think it's gonna take but one lackluster rushing game early in the season to send half the fan base into full panic/mania and the other half into depression.

I can only speak for myself here, but I'm cautiously optimistic. I believe we have all the pieces in place. What goes on between the ears at away games is a different story. Bama used to walk into the opponents house and it not make a difference but over the past few years it's a struggle. I don't take away games for granted anymore

I think we are the surprise team. We win the SEC this year.
And I am one of the more pessimistic fans on this board

I think we will be pretty good but so are a lot of teams in the SEC. I think we will definitely be better but I am also realistic in the fact that the schedule is pretty loaded . Got to win the close games to have a shot at playoffs

I have no idea what to expect. We're starting a QB that two different coaching staffs kept on the bench in favor of Milroe.

It all comes down to the QB play.

Optimistic but there are some areas of concern I have:

1) How does our new QB handle adversity when it inevitably comes.

2) ILB play with Lawson coming off of a knee injury and depth at that position is a question mark. And even as good as Lawson was before the injury, he seemed a step slow occasionally the last two years.

3) Offensive Line play - can we protect the QB (of course this is huge) but can we effectively and consistently run the football.

As you say, cautiously optimistic. If the offensive line has improved significantly this could be a very fun year.

I’m bullish

Secondary and receivers will be elite. O-line and linebackers should be very good. If Simpson is All-SEC caliber, we’ll be a National Championship contender

Extremely difficult schedule but an underrated roster.

I’d say 10-2.

If we can get even average NCAA QB play we will be deadly. The problem last year with Milroe is you had no idea what to expect, so it would be incredibly hard to plan. He could either play like superman or look like he had never played before, sometimes in the same game. We just need a guy who can be steady, follow the system, get the ball out on time and we are going to at minimum make the playoffs. If we get good to great QB play we will win it all. Our defense is going to be the best in the country.

Unproven QB is never a good thing. The coaching staff needs to be way better than last year.

In short, 9-3 and miss the playoffs again.

The sky is the limit. I don't expect to go 12-0 but I think Alabama could win the national title this year. The team should be top 10 in offense and defense.

Seeing that listening to DeBoer's press conferences and updates is about as informational as reading a Chinese phone book, I don't think anyone outside of the program really knows what to expect or if the team has made progress or not. I don't listen to the players because over the last three years, they've chirped, built hopes up, only to go out and not follow through with the picture they painted in the media. So anything a player says about the state of the team I just ignore. Our coaches really do not say much in the way of getting anything informational, so I quit listening to offseason interviews. And it seems even the reporters don't have any insight into anything because the information is so locked down.

This year's team is going to be dominant. There is a renewed excitement in the player's voices. There has been a strong commitment during the off-season. There is a superb core on offense and defense that is returning. Our head coach has a great track record of winning everywhere he goes. One of the best offensive coordinators in the country is back working with Deboer. There is a new quarterback and I have a strong feeling that he is going to come out and play within himself and the system and really thrive.

This could be a team that is most challenged by Georgia and whomever they play in the SEC championship game. Florida State could possibly be a little break-in game for some new players and be sorta close until the end of the 3rd quarter.

This is going to be a year that Alabama fans will look back on like 2008.

How can you look at this year's team and expect anything different from last year until proven otherwise? QB is still a question mark, just like last year. Coaches have to prove they know what the hell they are doing, after everything that happened last year.

9-3 until proven otherwise.

At Georgia and at Auburn already look like losses. Alabama will likely drop one of SC, Missouri, Tennessee or LSU.

Last year proved this isn't Saban's Alabama anymore.
