Most overrated Coach in SEC history is Shug Jordan.

Guy only won 1 SEC title in 25 years in 57. Plus the year he won the SEC Auburn did not even play in a bowl game because they were on probation.
Only Auburn would name the stadium after a guy that won 1 SEC.
Pat Dye is their best coach ever with 4 SEC titles.
Before posting I know he was a great and brave military man.

THERE is your answer.
Plus, Shug Jordan refused to bend the knee to Alabama. For that, he will remain a great SEC coach. I don’t know how old you are, but when I was younger, the deck was always stacked against Auburn when it came to Bama. Shug was a major influence in ending that inequity.

Could you elaborate on the deck stacking and inequity for us young whipper snappers?

Sure thing. When was the first time Bama played AT Auburn? Yeah, I know the Iron Bowl was “neutral” at Legion Field, but most people with common sense know that Birmingham might as well be West Tuscaloosa when it comes to Alabama athletics.
The “deck stacking” comment is based on Alabama politics, and this isn’t the place to get into that conversation. But here’s a hint: This game was on hiatus for more than a few years. Why?

I love Alabama politics, especially those years. This is the perfect place to get into that conversation.
I don’t know why the game was on a hiatus for years, but I’d like to.

Auburn was essentially a dormant program before Shug Jordan, and he won a national title there. He only won one SEC title there, but not many teams other than Alabama were winning the SEC in the 60s and 70s with Bear Bryant at Alabama, not the least of which Auburn who had to compete with him in their state.

Birmingham is West Tuscaloosa? Geography is hard! West Tuscaloosa is Baton Rouge.

My main problem with Jordan is how he pronounced his name.
Who pronounces Jordan as "Jerdan"?

The game wasn't played between 1907 and 1949. The game was already resumed when Jodan took over at Auburn.
Here's an AL.com article that goes through year-by-year of why the series wasn't played. It all started because of a $34 contract.
Iron Bowl missing years

In August, the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs played an exhibition game at Legion Field. Sullivan accepted an invitation to attend the game with Auburn's coach.
A day later, Alabama called to invite Sullivan to the game with Bryant. Sullivan politely declined.
The day of the game, Sullivan and Jordan were in bumper-to-bumper traffic on Graymont Avenue when Jordan's car overheated and blew a hose.
"So the driver said if y'all don't mind walking to the stadium, I'll get the car fixed and come get you," Sullivan said.
Sullivan and Jordan were walking through the throng of fans when an escort of police motorcycles cut through the traffic. The teams had already arrived at the stadium, so Sullivan asked Jordan who it could be.
"Boy, that's Coach Bryant," Jordan said. "You can either ride with him or walk with me."
Sullivan kept walking.

Legion Field was a home field for Auburn if not why did they play other game beside Alabama there.
