I would definitely not call it an upset alert, but Mercer is 9-1 and ranked #6 in the FCS poll. Auburn should definitely win but if they come out and play poorly Mercer might make them uncomfortable for a half.
I entered the transfer portal and signed with the Fubo sports package.

Should another great year for the SEC in basketball!!

I’ll be shocked if we get 14 bids again but it could be a 10 bid season for sure. I think UGA will be squarely on the bubble for most of the season this year like we were last year.

All the other games should be snoozers. If not, somebody is in for a bad opening night.

The mainstreaming of sports gambling is killing sports discussion. People have always gambled and discussed point spreads and bad beats, but now it is at the forefront of the discussion.

Scoring a touchdown there was the only way for Florida to have a shot to win. A long shot, but if he runs that in, Florida could theoretically score a TD, get the two, onside kick, and kick a FG to send it into OT.

By kneeling on the one, UGA only needed to kneel on the ball because Florida had no timeouts. Kneeling it down ended the game.
Dye was a great coach. Other than that, yes.

It’s been a long time, but wasn’t Donald Watkins involved as well?
Defenses hadn’t figured out how to defend the kind of offense he runs yet when he was at Ole Miss.
I can’t put my finger on it, but Dan Hurley and Auburn seem like they’d mix as well as oil and water. I don’t think he’d fit in well there at all.

re: Rank these 4 SEC jobs

LSU
Florida
Auburn
Arkansas

My impression is that LSU and Florida are the kind of jobs where any good coach should be in national championship contention regularly.

Auburn is just one notch below, but Malzahn, Chizik, Tuberville, Bowden, and Dye have all fielded teams SEC championship teams and team at least competitive for a NC in the modern era. (I know Bowden didn’t win the SEC but he did have a perfect season with a postseason ban from Dye.)

Arkansas needs a special coach to be nationally competitive, but it’s not impossible, but it’s harder than the other three schools for sure.
It is going to happen more and more. Exploding coaching contracts combined with NIL means more investment in the team than ever before. Boosters want ROI and are not going to tolerate poor performance.

I think that an underrated option would be Brent Key. I do not really see him leaving Georgia Tech, but I think that LSU is one of the jobs that would test his loyalty. I would reach out to him if I were LSU and see how loyal he is.
Jimmy Sexton is chomping at the bit. In the end, he is always the winner.

On the other hand, they need the school for the fanbase and the cultural/historical attachments that come with it. Total hypocrisy.

I was telling a friend this the other day. NIL advocates act like schools extract value from players and offered nothing in return before NIL, but think about this: take an average starter in the SEC and the amount of money they make through NIL and compare that to what they’d be making if they were a minor league pro player on something like the Lawrenceville Falcons or the LaPlace Saints. The value comes from the jersey they’re wearing and the love that alumni and fans have for their university.

Much harder to win in the SEC than at Notre Dame.
If Kentucky beats Auburn, it will be four this time next week.
