The SEC has to be more assertive but won't because the League office was snookered by Disney. There should be zero automatic qualifiers in any playoff. The whole set up is crooked. The top twelve ranked teams should be the playoff but which poll to use ? Most of the AP and Coaches voters don't watch all of the teams they vote into the top groups.
Only one team can be Champion but it will also determine final season Rankings which teams strive for also. Look at the Aggies: Lose the very last regular season game and drop from 3 to 7, now if they lose their first game , will fall out of top ten in final AP voting at 11-2 . The committee is biased as hell.

16 is too many, cut out all automatic qualifiers and have top ranked 12 play.
But the question is , which polls to use as the AP and Coaches are bias driven.
