7 for Spurrier (6 at UF and 1 at SCar).

Great human..but yes au highly exalted him
He played at Auburn.
He was ODK and a Spade.
He was an assistant football coach and the head basketball coach at Auburn.
He came back to Auburn to coach an 0-10 football team.
In short order, he brought the program back.
Had there been balanced schedules like today, there probably would have been more SEC titles. 1972, 1963.
It was a different era. He certainly epitomized the term Southern Gentleman.

To be fair you can get there by going west, it just takes a bit longer.

Are we doing more coach-bashing again? Respect for coaches, teams, and eras of football seems to matter little to you. Given that Ole Miss stopped being relevant 60 years ago nationally you would think the past would matter more.
The barn won a lot of games during the Jordan era. Punt BAMA Punt sold a lot of bumper stickers in the State of ALABAMA. And the reason the barn didn't win the SEC in 1972 was because BAMA happened to play one more SEC game. Both had one loss and today they would have gotten the push. That was just the way that era of football worked out.

That reminds me of this (typical) mistake from MSNBC. The Auburn/Georgia rivalry would be a great one if Auburn University were in Barrow County.
I grew up in Waton Co., GA, and I remember when I was in elementary school, a lot of the kids assumed Auburn was in Auburn, GA.

My family was from Columbus when Jordan was the coach, Great Granddad was an Auburn fan, Granny was a Georgia fan. They hosted a few Auburn players for Thanksgiving when they couldn’t travel back home. Granny always spoke very highly of Shug. She ran a sandwich shop that Auburn and Georgia coaches would frequent when they would recruit in Columbus.

Didn't AU start to hear rumblings of the Ramsey stuff around the time of the UF game in 1990? Stallings' first year.
So- you're saying AU collapsed with imminent sanctions and NCAA probation around the same time as Gene's arrival.
Funny how that works.

I assumed they pronounced his name Jerdan because they are stupid. If there is an additional reason I wish someone would post it
