Some other names that deserve to be discussed

Everrett Case - Created the ACC tournament and made southern basketball a thing. Won 6 straight ACC titles
Frank McGuire - not only had a perfect season at UNC, but is the reason Dean Smith was there. Also took SC and put them on the map

I dont think they are the best, but deserve some mention imo

toss up between Adolph Rupp who was 'retired' due to age rules after 42 seasons ... and Clarence "Big House" Gaines after his 47 seasons -

Rupp gave CBB the 'fast break' ...the coward in Chapel Hill gave CBB stall ball until the shot clock was forced to be adopted to save the integrity of the game -

I would think Nolan has to be on a consideration list.

He is the only coach in basketball history to win an NCAA D1 title, NIT Title, and JUCO National title.

I think the answer has to be K just based on all of the counting stats like total wins, FFs, national titles, regular season and conf. tournament titles, etc.

Dean’s four corners is getting panned a lot I see. Not going to deny that it was kind of lame lol. Only pushback would be that he really only used four corners when he needed to salt away close, low-scoring games. His teams played a relatively fast-paced style for the most part and he still won a lot after the shot clock was implemented.

In any case, I think Roy was better than Dean.

Pitino is probably the only one to win national titles at multiple southern schools.
