Maybe not a big game, but the lightning storm during the Ole Miss game (94 or 95 I think) was insane. An Ole Miss coach was zapped through his headset by a nearby strike, IIRC he was burned. Dude kept coaching.

I think two of ABC's camera crew were zapped and went to the hospital. And it was raining cats & dogs. Play was eventually suspended for half an hour. I don't think there were established rules at the time regarding stoppage. Man that was crazy.

SEC 2023 title game. Downs didn't make a big catch when ball was supported by the ground. Refs moved the chains and nobody reviewed it. What's that about?

The "Immaculate Deflection" Egg Bowl thing was as strange a thing as I've ever seen.

Either way, catch or no catch, that play kept UGA from doing something no one has managed to do in the modern era of CFB. If it was a catch as called it kept it from happening. Had it been ruled an incomplete pass UGA takes over on downs and barring some kind of disaster wins the game and goes on to 3 peat. Huge play either way.

Jermaine Kearse Super Bowl catch

Also, incredible awareness by Malcolm Butler to get up and get him out of bounds.

The play was reviewed,” an SEC spokesman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, responding to an email requesting an explanation. “Every play is reviewed in the Video Center, but some are stopped for further review. The play you referenced was reviewed, and it was determined there was not enough evidence to overturn the call and not necessary to stop the play for further review.”

2012 Texas A&M at Alabama. With less than a minute to go in the game and pinned deep on 4th down, Texas A&M prepared to punt. However, before the ball was snapped, the official whistled the play dead and gave Texas A&M a first down because an Alabama linesman jumped offside.

2010 SC/Alabama, opening drive of the second half and Garcia runs out of our own end zone for a safety, no one remembers because the cocks won

Uga hadn't moved the ball well outside the 1st drive. They had just missed a FG prior to the Bond catch. It was 10-7 BAMA at that point. There was 1:25 left in the half, but sure, uga definitely wins the game if that one play was called differently.

The melt continues.

I am still trying to forget the Hog fumble in the Vols game, I feel like the Indian in the litter commercial from the 70's still.

I would imagine most fans old enough to have watched it remember that Ryan Pflugner missed an extra point in overtime in the 2000 Orange Bowl which caused Alabama to lose to Michigan. Many may not remember that Alabama blocked a Michigan field goal attempt on the last play in regulation to send the game to OT in the first place.

How bout the fact that earlier in 1999 Plugner missed the first XP in overtime at Florida that would have left the game tied after Florida missed theirs, but Florida was offsides. He got another try, BARELY made that one, and Alabama broke Florida's long SEC home win streak.

2005 Auburn @ LSU

ESPN showed Auburn getting off the bus before the game and Kenny Irons looked at the camera and said he was going over 200. He had 218 yards that game.

Unfortunately, the Auburn kicker missed 5 field goals to lose by a field goal in overtime. LSU and Auburn both only had one SEC loss that year and LSU had the tiebreaker for the West.

I think the Texas kicker hitting the player with a line shot in the opening 2nd half of the 2009 NC was one of the more insane things I've seen.

Mark Ingram fumbles the ball and it’s rolls forever down the sideline and through the endzone

Been watching football since the late 70's and I've never seen a football roll that far in a straight line. Even though Bama was comfortably ahead at the time, I began to have an uneasy feeling from the moment that ball rolled out the back of the end zone.

No melt on my part, nothing compared to the melt on display when someone says that a team making a first down in a tight game when going for it on 4th down had no impact on the game. Everyone knows that momentum is a non-factor in college football. Every knowledgeable fan knows this is the case...never in the history of college football has a shift in momentum ever had an impact on the outcome of a college football game...
