Minter, Schumann (now that TRob is off the table but we know isn't coming probably) Golden, Leonhard, very reluctantly Durkin.
Possibly Shane Bowen (Titans DC), Clint Hurtt (Seahawks DC) , Dan Quinn (Cowboys) reluctantly Ansley as he will bail if a job opens at Krispy Kreme.
Lsu beat us to Baker which sucks he would be 1b with Minter.

Portraying defense as a Muschamp problem is kind of a weird position to take though. His failures as a HC have never been related to defense. He's just a shitty gameday coach who can't put a remotely competent offense on the field. His defenses at Florida were very good under Broseph Quinn and Durkin.
I agree. I think TRob's USCe data point is 100% valid. I don't think you can say it was the situation he was in 100%. I'm not sold on T-Rob as DC.
I would much rather have a A/B+ Coordinator and A+ recruiters in my position coaches.
At least those Coords can scheme based on our personnel and those position coaches can recruit their asses off.
I think we've gotten in trouble when we've elevated those A+ recruiters from position coaches to larger roles (i.e. Tosh / Golding)

If we can get 2020 offense, then somebody as bad as Golding could be the DC. I just don't think that is a good strategy year-to-year.
And as for TRob, seems like he's just trying to play both sides. You offer him the job, give him 24 hours to decide, then move the frick on.
I get wanting him, but I don't think he's worth all this anxiety.
Offer him the job. Wait 24 hours. If he comes back, great. If not, wish him well and get somebody else. His presence or absence won't make or break the staff.

What about Roach at DC?
Posted on 1/15/24 at 9:57 am to UASports23
Will add Quinn to my list. Will pretend yesterday didn't happen .

I don't know enough about Roach to comment. I believe to know something like that one must need to know these guys personally. I don't.
But I'll say this, if Kirby wasn't a little anxious about DeBoer being at BAMA, he wouldn't be offering recruiters co-DC jobs when he already has Schumann.
At least Sark is only poaching players.

The REC needs to go to work and get Kirby caught up in a scandal.
If college football gets a clean slate with Saban leaving then let's go all the way and get rid of bowl cut too.

He’s already in a scandal with recruit’s allegedly drinking at his house and the car accident and what not.

Are there any other former Bama defensive stars that we could look at for DC? Not even for this hire neccessarily, but for potential future ones and you bring them as a high level assistant and dc is their next move?
Kinda how Demeco was just 4 or 5 years. Do we have any other formers defensive players, especially from the Saban era, who are in/interested in coaching?

quote:That is true now. Sarkisian took half of Alabama's staff with him when he left "the coach and place that gave him back his career." in 2021, then hired another former Bama coach in Bo Davis. Saban never recovered from that gutting.

Now On3 releases an article about 30 min ago saying that Greg McElroy is predicting T Rob to Bama as DC lmao.
This news cycle is all out of whack. I was excited seeing it but it's probably old news he is running with.

Bama players need to look at the success rate when transferring to Texas...hasn't worked out so far. All of them have been flops.

I don't think he's close to being a DC, but HaHa is a Director of Player Development for Bama, and I think it'd be a good idea to start to transition him to an on-field role.
Curious if we'd reach out to Austin Armstrong about the DC job if TRob falls through.
ETA: Shaun Dion Hamilton is an Assistant LB coach with the Lions. He probably needs a couple more years of coaching experience, but that's another guy I'd love to have back in some capacity on Bama's staff.

Vinnie Sunseri is the current RB coach for New England...or was before the coaching change He was also a defensive assistant there. 32 years old... spent a year as a GA under Saban. Not sure how good he is, but a young name to keep an eye on maybe. One of my favorite "unsung" Bama players.

I think too much attention is being paid to what uga is doing.
BAMA isn't going to win with DeBoer the same way they won with Saban. I believe DeBoer wants to win and knows how. If he fired EVERYBODY, I wouldn't criticize him. I'd think it would be very interesting for somebody to come in and just clean house on a team that was a CFP team last season, but this guy has to do it his way. If he's successful, I'll enjoy it. What I won't enjoy, nor respect, is a guy that comes in and loses with coaches, players, and staff that he didn't want or value in the first place because he was afraid of doing shite his way or was bullied into hiring or retaining this guy or that guy.
DeBoer doesn't appear to be a guy that isn't open to suggestion, but I hope he's a guy that isn't too soft to say "it's my way or the highway". He's the HC. Buck stops with him, so he should be the one making the decisions.
I've said this before, you can win with motivated and well-coached 3 and 4 star players.
It seems to me that some fans care more about how many NFL players BAMA produces than how many games BAMA wins. Personally, IDGAF about the NFL except that it's on Sundays and there's nothing else to watch.

Thanks for the info. Yeah we need to start building that pipeline. Those two would be great. Maybe one day Hightower will get into it after spending so many years around the other Goat coach. But Hightower has made so much money playing, maybe not

Kirby is going to have all his co-DCs call plays with these bad boys.
