Why do I sense that we're about to hire Dabo?

Byrne has an obligation to resign before he hires a coach he doesn’t believe it. If our good ole boys want to burn the program down expose them and let’s have it all out in the open.

Kiffin is clearly the best candidate on the board. Has won big in the SEC at a bottom feeder program. Been here before. Wants the job. Fans want him. Would be able to keep our roster and likely add to it, but it’s clear that our boosters are not as committed to winning as we’d hoped.

The return of meddlesome boosters. I hope not

If we hire someone like Locksley over Kiffin, fans should boycott the games next year. Bryant Denny should be empty if that happens.

Schumann just tweeted a picture showing he's out on the recruiting trail, sooo seems unlikely that he's the guy.

Tweets and vague statements are not a sign of anything. Consider it hedging your bets. If things don't shake out you have to make sure you've secured your position in your current role. Shows of allegiance like this mean little.

Not saying he's a candidate or not, just saying that short of a coach officially signing a new contract during the process, there's no one truly out, or in for that matter.

Nick should have taken 2 weeks off and played golf.

I'd take a Bobby Bowden like figurehead Saban right about now.

It has to be Kiffin or a Dabo that gets off his damn high horse.

Because you're creating scenarios in your own head. We may or may not hire him, anything beyond the announcement is just storytelling.

I said it yesterday, and I will say it again today, there is a reason that Byrne worked directly, in the flesh, with Jimmy Sexton all day. Cut the middle man out. Work directly with the agent to figure who is a real possibility and who is not. Weed through it. Who wants to be here. Who just wants a raise.

Many are in freak out mode right now. But I honestly think Byrne is going at this the correct way.

I'm saying that tweet makes it unlikely he's the guy because if he was, he'd presumably be preparing to travel to Tusc to meet the team, have a press conference, etc. instead of visiting a high school in Sandersville, Georgia.

Isn’t Dabo’s buyout something like $9M if he goes to Alabama?

I don’t think that’s happening.

OK...Sexton has gotten his obligatory raises for his coaches. Now the real work starts.

Why would that be an issue if he’s the target?

What?

You don't think he can pay a 9 mil buyout? We pay our coach over ten mil per year and don't blink an eye. 9 mil is nothing in today's world. This isn't 1985.

How does this tweet mean anything in relation to the Bama coaching job? Most negotiations are running theough agents, and interviews can be done virtually from anywhere these days.

Whether it’s Schumann, Sark, Dabo, whoever, the type of coach you want would be expected to be performing his current position business as usual until an offer is given to them and accepted.

For sure. But if he's the guy, the likely talked yesterday and until the contract is set, it's business as usual. Just like anyone does when they change jobs.
