Rumors on Reddit (not sure what they know or if they know anything) Say that we have a guy. Never said who though.

How is this thread removing candidates and confirming new targets with no concrete information what so ever at warp speed? It is possible no candidates have "officially" interviewed or visited campus. It has been less than 24 hours

If it wasn't for the off field shenanigans then Kiffin would be a slam dunk hire...you can't let that stuff get in the way if you really want to win

Kiffin has never won anything of substance and he hasn't done anything at Ole Miss that Hugh Freeze didn't. Freeze actually was more competitive with elite teams. I don't understand this acting like Kiffin's on field resume is so impressive. He was a disaster everywhere before FAU.

And off field shenanigans have frequently gotten in Kiffin's way of winning. They got in the way of his winning at Alabama. Off field shenanigans by Mike DuBose and Mike Price nearly destroyed the program. Off field conduct is immensely important.

DeBoer will likely inherit a better roster, especially if he’s endorsed by Saban. Recruiting will continue rolling with wins, our facilities and NIL. Sark is the only one who has proven he can recruit. Can’t compare Oregon recruiting as it recruits itself for all the kids that want to wear a new uniform every Saturday.

Hypothetically speaking… If we do somehow end up with Dabo, would y’all eventually get behind him? I know he’s struggled with the portal and such but if he is willing to mold and gets fired up about coming back home then we would have to be willing to see he wants to do whatever it takes to win.

I’ll be behind Dabo immediately. I also think he’d win a championship. I just have my doubts that he can sustain success.
Norvell is the only realistic candidate that I would not support. He’s a clown. I won’t watch next year if he’s the coach.

Wasn't Penix a transfer?

There are a ton of programs that do this and don't recruit at a high level. It's actually the norm in college football now to have like a dozen alternates.

Lanning, Deboer, and Kiffin are all great choices. As long as it's one of those 3 I'll be happy. They all have their strengths and weaknesses but I believe any of them can win multiple national titles at Bama.

Sure but not all have the support of the founder of Nike and everything that comes along with that

I'm fairly confident that none of the prospective coaches will set foot in Tuscaloosa without being named the coach.

The only way Dabo would work at Bama is if he humbled himself and accepted the fact that Bama isn't Clemson, and he can't be Clemson Dabo at Bama. We won't put up with some of the stuff that he got away with at Clemson . That's the only way.

Not saying you’re right or wrong but Greg Byrne job/legacy is on the line. I just don’t think he goes to him or anyone who has no recruiting background IMO but if I’m wrong I will admit it

Is Lanning supposed to have a press conference here in the next hour or so? Read elsewhere but I never know what to believe.

But not every Oregon coach has recruited that well either.

Kiffin has the balls

This is what sets him apart from other candidates. Plus, Kiffin has so much experience for his age. I know he still does goofy things sometimes, but he wants to win and has that drive to do what it takes.
Maybe we get Monte as an analyst!

Penix was with him at Indiana when he was the OC. after 2 straight ACL injuries. He didn’t have to do much to convince him

Who says the roster sticks around with DeBoer? That's the most important part to keep this thing rolling is keep most of our talent here.

Again...if it's him I hope it works out but I just don't think it's a good fit at all. Winning at Wash in a bad league with a 5th/6th year transfer QB doesn't give me that much confidence in this league. SEC is a different beast.

Lanning is an elite recruiter. He has experience at UGA. Lane has proven it at Ole Miss ffs.

All I can give is my opinion and I believe DeBoer is a meh hire.

Can’t do Deboer with no proof that he can recruit. He inherited that team and their recruiting class isn’t special. I don’t care who you are, if you come here getting 8 ranked classes while UGA and Auburn gets top 3 classes. He won’t be here long

I don't know if I agree with that anymore. I think your class DEPTH is probably not as big a factor anymore because of the transfer portal. It's important to bring in guys that you can develop, but having 26 of them? I don't see that as part of the game moving forward.

He actually has. Hugh never won 11 games. He also has had two 10+ win seasons. Hugh had one.
