So was Ole Miss but yet their transfers didn’t opt out….

why didn't Auburn quit in 2004? They went undefeated in the toughest and deepest power conference, won the SEC Championship Game, and got left out of the national championship game in favor of USC and Oklahoma. Did any of them rage quit? No. They all showed up and beat Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.
To be fair, in 2004 quitting wasn’t really an option either. Unless you wanted to lose your scholarship

Were the kids who didn’t play in the bowl game for FSU even alive in 2004?

Those selfish players went undefeated.
Bama could not.
Sure but that only means something when your comparing apples to apples schedule wise. A full strength FSU team loses 2 games against Alabama's schedule. Injuries and ipt outs aside, they aren't beating Texas and Georgia.
To put the two schedules in perspective consider the following bowl results...
USF - 45
Syracuse - 0
Those two teams were the 8th best team on each team's respective schedule
Clemson - 38
Kentucky - 35
The 4th best team on FSU's schedule needed a last minute touchdown drive to slip by the 6th or 7th best team on Alabama's schedule and that same 6th or 7th best team on Alabama's schedule beat the 2nd best team on FSU's schedule on their home field and put up over twice as many points as FSU did in doing so.
That's just a small snapshot example of how weak FSU's schedule was in comparison to Alabama's and why there was some justification to put a 1 loss Alabama team in the playoff ahead of an undefeated FSU team.
Not to mention that even the absolute weakest teams on Georgia's schedule ALL managed to stay within 60 points of Georgia during the regular season.
If FSU would have even managed to stay within 30 points of Georgia they may have had somewhat of a legitimate argument but not when you lose by the largest margin in bowl game history.

Those are just flimsy assumptions. Even Auburn beat Alabama. Teams have bad games.

even though Alabama won the damn thing just a couple years ago with a backup QB?
When did Alabama win with a backup QB?
In 2017, Jalen Hurts was benched at half time for true freshman Tua. However, there were calls for Tua to start all season.
In 2020, they won with starter Mac Jones.

He was still a backup in the regular season.
Just like Nico was a backup in the regular season despite all those calls....

Liberty also went undefeated. Should they have been in?

GTFO. If Georgia was screwed as bad as FSU, the exact same thing would have happened to them.
Georgia was screwed more than FSU. Georgia was easily one of the 4 best teams. Probably 10 teams could beat FSU even with Travis

He makes a good point u can’t act like Fla state had all their starters missing 28 players?
This will continue to be a major problem in the future of college football unless you make these professional football players ( no longer college players) official sign contracts that make them play if not take away money or fine them extensively. I’d the NCAA would come out with a common /?standard for all contracts for D1 this crap would .stop. If not maybe fans should become more interested in FCS teams, where apparently they still play for the love of the game.

The influx of fan interest and the consequent money would ruin *that*, too.
In the end, the fans are responsible for the present state of D1 college football.
