Calling the CWS the “MCWS” is aggravating.

I don’t know why, but calling the College World Series the MCWS makes me irrationally angry every time ESPN puts it on the screen.

It was the CWS for ~75 years. Why change it?

We cover this every year on here but yes it’s absurd.

There are two different series - the WCWS and the MCWS. Not sure why something so simple will upset so many thin skinned people.

Probably because it's completely unnecessary even within the context of why they're trying to change it. Just more hollow performative garbage.

Because they need to cater to women by throwing an M in front of an acronym....all while praising men who enter and dominate women's sports.

It's quite a paradox.

Well it is kind of helpful. If I see WCWS I know not to tune into that channel so it saves me a step.

It’s aggravating to turn on a basketball game and it’s women playing. I’m glad they have sports, but it’s not something I’m interested in. But that’s just my line of thinking right or wrong.

I appreciate the heads up.

Yep
It is College World Series. Period.

The more recent Women’s College Softball World Series is appropriately known as the
WCWS. It is one that has to be identified (oops I might have used an incorrect term there) differently.

The 2048 CWS will probably be the AMABCWC. Assigned Male At Birth College World Series.

Maybe it should be called Omaha 2023. Everyone should know what that is and maybe it wouldn’t ruffle anyone’s feathers…..

It’s because girls play baseball and it’s a feminine sport.

I’d like to know when the women’s college works series of baseball is held, and when the men’s college World Series of softball is held?

2 different sports, so why the need to differentiate?
