Cohen can definitely go. ( we should have $7m to go towards 3 great interior linemen in the portal and a stud QB for about $4 million since we gave up a frickin home game for NIL).

Whoever is on the player acquisition side has this portal window to get it done. If we aren’t top 3 in the portal they need to get gone.

Keep DJ.

Look for replacement for TIm Banks.

Keep Coach Hoody. (OL coach). He has his guys in the right spots they just don’t have the talent to get it done.

Durkin is average and always has been. We can do better. Of course, we need to have someone lined up before we fire him and with this being AU, that is unlikely.

If Golesh decides to move on from Durkin, I’m appealing to the NCAA to get Jeremy Pruitt’s show cause cut by two years and bring him in as DC. They already made an exception to let him be an analyst at Jax St. Warts and all or whatever, we’d have one of the best DC around.

I’d kick the tires on Josh Aldridge. He was a great recruiter, and his defenses have ranked pretty well in sacks and turnovers.

He’s already familiar with the recruiting landscape at Auburn from being the edge/OLB coach before.

It's hard for me to place too much of the blame on Durkin. We don't have a single difference maker in our DL and lost 2 NFL corners to the portal without sufficient replacements. I know he has his issues on 3rd downs sometimes but i don't think anyone could get this group to play better than they have this season.

If for some reason he is pushed out though i like Aranda.

I just think paying a DC $6M a yr now is not a winning formula…. You can get comparable play calling/scheme and spend that money on personnel.

He is highly overpaid regardless of what you see this season. He has a ~Top 5 salary nationally. In which season has he produced a defense close to that? Even last season when he had more talent, the results were only "good" not "great". And we really can't say enough about the fact that in almost every game where Freeze's offense was actually doing something, his defense was simultaneously conceding points all over the place.

Durkin isn't getting $6M. His salary is $2.7M, which is still a crazy large sum, especially given the product on the field.

Also he gets at least some semblance of blame on the roster building

I say fire Cohen first. After that I would do anything to bring back Redmond and oust Warsaw. That was the coach’s biggest mistake when hired.
As for coaching changes, it’s critical that we bring in a great ‘27 recruiting class so I hesitate firing staff until class is signed. But I would definitely like to see some staff changes. Not thrilled with our OC but Golesh seems to be very loyal to his USF staff. OL coach seems to recruit well but blew the portal evals. DL coach is not developing players. DBs are bad but we let our great ones leave. Hate Durkin’s schemes so wouldn’t mind a new DC

I don't think anyone on the football staff has done anything to warrant a firing. This roster is arse. Golesh, Durkin and co. are doing their best to make chicken salad out of chicken shite.

There is no example to be made by firing anyone off a first-year staff except that your decision makers are impetuous and bad business-folk.

I'm not saying that some coaches might not be urged to find a new home and there be some run-of-the-mill off-season shuffling, but public firings and spectacle are the wrong move at this point.

I’m not sure that our portal evaluations were as much of the problem as our slot values. I’m really disappointed our staff thought they could come into the SEC or any P4 really with a bargain basement oline.

As for who we fire, Gordon has to go. I wouldn’t be surprised if Durkin is “hired” away.

I agree that the Oline isn’t getting coached bad like we’ve seen the past few years, but how has this guy not screaming at Golesh to give the younger/stronger/more talented guys a chance. 69 and 72 have no business being on the field.

I agree with everything you said except this part. Auburn is 3rd in the conference in 3rd down conversion rate on defense at 34%.

Auburn ranks 55th in the country in 3rd down conversions, not good.

Auburn ranks 85th in the country in giving up 3rd and 7+.

Auburn ranks 118th in the country in giving up 4th down conversions.

Yeah, he's tied for the 4th highest paid DC in the country. And during his time here he's had the 43rd, 28th and currently 69th ranked scoring defenses. That's not remotely worth top 5 DC pay, even in his best year.

And for those defending his results due to talent, he's been responsible for recruiting the talent we currently have. If we don't have talent, it's in a large amount due to him. Hell, the entire reason many people were fired up to keep him was he was supposed to allow us to keep our good talent on the roster.

For me the biggest issue is how schemes make no damn sense from situational standpoint. We have absolutely sucked in zone coverage the entire time he has been here, yet he constantly pulls his 3rd and long 3 man rush zone bullshite over and over, failing miserably 90% of the time.

Beyond that we get absolutely lit up by any good passing offense we face due to his schemes, and that includes last year when we had more talent. Baylor, Vandy, and Bama basically passed on us at will last year, and obviously people are doing whatever they want against us this year.

And not to go all jville, but Durkin is absolutely terrible when it matters most. If a team has the ball at the end of the game, I think all of us are expecting to lose or give up scores. He gave up game winning drives at the end of the Mizzou, Bama, Vandy, and Oklahoma games last year. In 24 he immediately let Arky score a TD after we had a drive to cut it to 17-14 in the 4th quarter, choked away the lead in the 4th against Mizzou, and almost choked away the A&M game.

This year he immediately let Baylor drive down the field after we took the lead, luckily Winters made an amazing tackle. Against Vandy he tried his best to let them control the entire second half, luckily our offense was able to run out the clock with a couple first downs at the end. If Stockton doesn't run into own o-line and fumble I have zero doubt we lose that game.

Durkin isn't a terrible DC overall, but his schemes are sketch, he can't cover the middle of the field, and he chokes when it matters most. And he's vastly overpaid.

The AD is a figure and nothing else. He's someone we can fire every year and never notice the difference.

It's like putting any QB being our OLine and keep blaming them for not having time to think or do anything but run.

Fixing the OLine will take the pressure off the QB and RBs. Keep the defense off the field to rest. If we don't go all in on the OLine we will never get out of the slump.
