Bottom line, not calling for Golesh firing. He has to have a chance next year. He has an uphill climb. Lots to fix. But he deserves a chance to get it working. That said, I don't like what I see so far.
But, here is the question. Point me to the very successful college coaches out there that came in and took 2-3 years to get the program built and then started to be at the top of their conference, competing for conference championships, and being a threat for a national championship?
I'll wait.

It’s game planning and execution that is the problem. The process he keeps talking about is dumb, build a winning culture. Losing has to suck for the players and the coaches and can’t be tolerated. Brown shouldn’t get to roll out there and suck without getting benched, goes for all the players. This Saban process bs was about getting the best players and booting their arse when they sucked. He couldn’t win in today’s environment because now you gotta out X and O teams and you can’t miss on talent. Offensive game plans and execution have been shite all year except UGA. Golesh should say less in his pressers. Talks to much. Just say we got beat, i didn’t have them ready and they didn’t execute. Nobody trusts you for year 2, 3 etc when you put that product on the field. Just fix it now

I know I saw a National Championship coach today bench his QB at the half because he wasn't getting it done. Did the backup play like Peyton Manning? No. Did they end up winning? Yes.
A winning coach will do whatever they have to do. A loser will stick by and make excuses for his guy. That is G5 level bullshite.

There are a crap ton of elite CFB coaches that took 2 years to have success, are you high?
Saban and Pat Dye just for two off the top of my head. Now there are very few good coaches that don't at least have solid 8 win seasons in year two. Though Saban would of course be an example since he was super mediocre his first three years at Michigan St.

Im sure all of you could have built a much better roster being hired 4 days before early signing and having already worked the entire year scouting for lower tier talent for a lower tier team.
I would like to think I would have at least thought twice about bringing in Brown or paying him so much - after seeing his throwing motion. It's horrible.
I know I would have at least brought in a competitor at QB or someone at least capable of playing a few series.
I would have emphasized raw talent or star power over "culture." so I wouldn't have automatically brought in the whole USF OL.
There is such naivety around "culture" with Kirby Smart, Nick Saban, Bobby Bowden, Pat Dye etc. All about talent - you're gonna have a few problems.

Crap ton? Where are they retard? You call me an idiot. Give me some examples that aren't from fricking Knute Rockne times idiot. We are talking about now.
Saban (do you really want to argue when he was at bama or lsu?), Pat Dye? Are you slow? Do you really think we are dealing with the same game in this time? You want to be right so bad you make a fool of yourself. Do you have missing chromosomes?

I didn't call you an idiot, but you certainly act like one on this message board with responses like you just made.
Joey McGuire went 8-5 and 7-6 at Texas Tech his first two years with a 10-8 big 12 record, and he has them as a playoff team.
Cristobal went 5-7 and 7-6 his first two years at Miami, and was in the championship game last year and has them rolling.
Those are both coaches hired in 2022, that recent enough for you dumbass?
I personally wanted us to hire Stein if we went with an offensive coach, and Chesney if we went with a defensive coach. And while I'm not remotely sold on Golesh and not happy with our roster, acting like he's a complete failure because he didn't immediately turn us around is just silly.
Golesh will have good chance to go 7-5 this year unless we completely fall apart. And while that won't give us warm fuzzies, it doesn't mean he can't be successful here. He will have to show some massive improvement in year two though.

Charles Kelly, which everyone laughed at, has his squad at 6-2 and 4-0 in conference.
But he was too old.

There is no reason for us to be this bad. We had enough talent on the roster to beat OM.

Kirby was 6-6 year 1. Should’ve been 5-7 but you know, GusShortBus crapped his pants.

Golesh has a lot of work to do in the offseason. Lots and lots of work.
It will be a marker for him. I honestly think he was put in a bad position this year. Bringing his own crew aboard with him was probably a safety net for him. It didnt work. Or maybe it did who knows. Not sure what Auburn would have been like had we counted on what we had and what we could recruit instead of him bringing USF with him
But what he does next year is a massive marker for him and I would bet he absolutely knows it

I think we make it to a bowl game this year. That alone is an improvement but also shows how down we are.
Posted on 11/1/26 at 2:04 pm to higgs_boson
Pretty much. Expecting more than 6-6 or maybe 7-5 this year was pretty much guaranteed to be a pipedream. The UGA win have us some wiggle room on that at least.
I would like to see the team play a little better but that's obviously going to require time and more recruiting.
