Aw, hell, naw.
Aside from Sumrall, I will take a hard pass on that entire list.
With that list, he is just trying to agitate people, anyway. Well done, Pete.

Another great episode. If SNL was only half as clever nowadays.

I know, it seems to be constantly changing.
The other side of the portal is us bringing players in. So we'd miss that opportunity, or at least get a late start on speaking to players jumping in from other schools.
All of which would be fine, I think, provided we hired the right guy to lead the program long term.

So you're saying our players can't transfer during the regular transfer portal that is open to everyone? I assume Auburn players can transfer during the regular portal just like everyone else, and then get another when we make a hire.

Just to be clear, I do not recommend Daboll. He has been arse for the Giants. I was pointing out that Kiffen might have at least one NFL suiter, too.

No thank you. If Lashlee is it
I have not been too hot on Lashlee, either, but lately I've been reconsidering. He made the playoffs last year and beat Miami just a few weeks ago. Has a chance to make the playoffs again.
Lashlee is still not my first choice, but I am seeing him in a different light. No longer "Auburn ptb hired a guy just because they know him" from my perspective.

the hire may drag on until after the playoffs
Which would be past both the early signing period and the only portal window. Talk about pressure to get it right!

Wish it was an SEC sport.

Dillingham would be a great hire.

Tough call. I’d go Sumrall. I like Durkin but, honestly, he suffers from already being here. It’s hard to get excited about a guy on the staff getting promoted (even though it might be the right move).

But I can easily see him saying now or never to compete at the highest level against UA and UGA.
Because he has been killing it against his current level of competition?

FWIW, Brian Daboll just got fired. The NY media has Lane near the top of the Giants interest list. (I personally doubt it, but take it fwtw).
The Mara family is notoriously uptight. I see Kiffin as an oil and water fit. It’s going to be interesting to see if the NY media pushes for him to get the job. (And Dart, for that matter.)

Not saying Dilly or Summral won't fall in our lap but I highly doubt they are the top options on Cohen's list.
Who do you think are the top options for Cohen?

the 5th consecutive losing season.
And remember, if we do beat Bama, we still have to win the bowl game to avoid a 5th consecutive losing season.
I believe that will be the first time in the entire history of our program we’ve had 5 losing seasons in a row. As a kid who grew up in the 70s and first knew Auburn football in the Barfield years, it blows my mind that we’re going through a worse period now than we were then.

re: Give me a good reason to want Sumrall over Brohm…

I assume that is at Purdue and Louisville combined? That’s certainly very good. The others likely have at least 1 (what was Miami ranked when SMU beat them a few weeks ago?), but I doubt the others have 5 wins against top 5 teams combined.
Of course, the fact he’s coached 10 games against top 5 teams also points to him being one of the older candidates on the list. But, hell, Brohm is still younger than me (I was going to laugh, but I think I’ll cry).

Everyone who has become a usual suspect over the last week. Sumrall, Dillingham, Durkin. I’m open to Franklin. Key (who I don’t expect to leave GT) and the guy at USF would be interesting. And Drink and Lashlee (in spite of my offensive guru comment.) None are sure fire home run hires, but all have a big upside. Not sure what all the gushing over Brohm is about.
I’d certainly support him, if he is the guy. But tell me what I’m missing? I’d love to be sold, especially if he turns out to be the one.

I’d certainly get behind him if he was hired, but a week or two ago, I barely knew who Brohm was. I have to admit, of everyone who has been mentioned, he’s next to last on my wish list (only above Jimbo, who might spark a riot if he’s hired). Also, I’ve had my fill of offense gurus.
Maybe I am missing something. I don’t see why we should be considering this guy.
