Second, Auburn University's black student enrollment has been decreasing for the past 10 years. Auburn has the second lowest black enrollment in the SEC. You don't think that impacts recruitment? Black alum have become pretty frustrated with this and there have been several articles written recently focusing on it. You might have missed them but our rivals probably didn't. Neither did the parents of future recruits.

If Harsin can somehow make Marcus Freeman happen, I’d be floored. Would be an absolutely homerun hire

An Ole Miss fan on tRant claims Lebby is basically a done deal. I am not sure if he is just trolling.

The guy that works for me is a retired High School football coach with over 35 years of experience. His favorite saying about recruiting is

"No jackass has ever won the Kentucky Derby"

I laughed.

Then I agreed.

I have always heard it as:

You can't win the Kentucky Derby if you are riding a mule.

THought Lebby is also up for the Alabama OC position.

IF so, we are going to lose out on that one. He definitely has more tools at Alabama than at Auburn...

Lebby and Alabama seems like a stretch considering that Saban has been on a stretch of picking established former HC types and "rehabbing" them in the OC position. Lebby doesn't fit that bill as a young upstart. There's already reports about Adam Gase (who GA'd under Saban at both MSU and LSU) and Bill O'Brien for the OC spot at Bama.

My thing with is how much credit does he really get for the Ole Miss offense this year? Doesn't Kiffin still call plays? I could be wrong about that, but I though offense and play calling was Lane's thing.

And before Ole Miss, he was OC/QB coach at UCF under Josh Huepel. I think Huepel also calls plays and UCF has taken a big step back after Scott Frost left.

Lenny's only other OC job in his career was one season at Southeastern. So I'm not convinced this guy should be getting all the hype he is.

Lebby is considered to be a big up-and-comer on the offensive side. Whether or not he's calling all the plays yet is kinda a silly thing to worry about because our own HC is also an offensive guy and former OC by trade, which means that he'd have the exact same "situation" as he had under both Heupel and Kiffin. His last two stops (UCF and Ole Miss) produced huge offensive numbers and he also spent a ton of time at Baylor under Briles.

True. HAving Harsin with his background will be the focus, not just how great an OC he hires. Harsin probably wants someone who emulates what he was utilizing in his offenses at Boise...

And i would say Harsin is much more a proficient well rounded OC than Gus ever was(even if he did write a book :))....

Tommy Herman keeps popping up on Auburn sites for the past 24+ hours. Too unlikely to be mentioned here?

He’s one of the guys that I feel like people just post of the top of their head.

I don’t think it’ll happen

Herman is going to be linked to every open OC job this offseason.

And watch him go to Nick Saban's School for Wayward Coaches as an analyst or something.
