Bottom line the CEO of the NIL Auburn company used offensive linemen as an example that our NIL is going to try to set a standard baseline per position on teams.

He used OL as an example and said Texas deal of 50K per lineman would be around what we would expect. I think he changed the terminology on the working of now 50K but a monthly amount of $4000 but said that would be something with taxes meaning they would be pocketing $4000 a month.

It's just really weird and seems like a complete clusterfrick.

Yeah the company running it has done a very poor job explaining how things are going to work. Fans are going to be willing to give their money if it means helping get players, but only if they know where the money’s actually going.

Their website is a joke too. I’m sure they’re smart people but the presentation has been bad.

Plus we don't need 2000 people to give $250 a month. We need 200,000 to give 500 a year or something. I mean if it's gonna be for the fan involvement and me personally I don't need to talk to, see, get a text or anything like from a player. Then obviously the yeller feller and Mr. Harbert and folks like that can work the big dollar projects because you will still need your big money donors to do their normal fundraising things

Why would all schools not do this? Most will, especially the top 50 athletic programs.

Rushing to do this to beat others is fairly laughable idea as far as I’m concerned, literally every program is scrambling to do something similar right now. And everyone will be by 2023.

I don’t see how this won’t be capped per player at some point.

I would expect that this group has done market analysis, research and also polling to see what can work.

Let's see how their version goes before we put out our
'expert; opinions.

How about a simple "80% of money received makes it to college athletes."

Right now it's conspicuously absent about the % kept or % to the players.

This is a good start but not the full answer. We need more local businesses involved. Local car dealerships or clothing stores. Maybe a sporting goods store or hunting store. Until this happens we will struggle. You want to know how to get a top QB have him a NIL with a new car.

It will be the Wild, Wild West unless/until it is capped, but who will have the authority to set that cap? If it can't be capped at zero, how can it be capped at $50K, $100K, $1 mil, $10 mil, etc.?

How can you cap an adult receiving money from another adult? This isn't a state university giving money away.

No idea really. Not sure how it works these days, but I had a scholarship/work study that stipulated I could have no other job. Not apples to apples at all, but that is about the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

You can't. There is no answer. If they put a "cap" there is no way to enforce it.

Only real answer would be to limit schollys but that could be paid out by NIL deals anyway

It's insanity

Reality is these guys will have a short rope. If an OL takes the 100k payout from UT, he will have to produce or GTFO. There will be no more 3-4 years to figure it out.

That attitude would have Auburn consistently in the cellar.

I think, and hope, that’s not the attitude of the majority of the fanbase that’s considering giving money to get our program out of the dumps it’s essentially been in for the last decade.

Yea not sure why anybody is bitching about something. Since all of our pay sites are trash, it would be good to just move all those members over there. Give ‘em a message board access and more money gets you access to player content. Now if the bammers or other trolls want to ruin our message boards they will at least be helping pay our players ?? I like the idea a lot.

Again, how many other programs have had arguably the best coach in history across the state? 0.

Auburn isn’t close to being the largest school nor close to having the largest endowment nor close to having the wealthiest alumni base.

The answer to the NIL and winning is not ‘we need our alumni to donate more to NIL’s’ for the avg fan, you’d have to be completely ignorant to expect that to work and auburn to get into the top 20.

Auburn has a very wealthy fanbase. Look, we just went from landing a complete DUD of a class to picking off 7 four star guys in a span of two weeks because of the NIL structure that was developed and presented.

If it’s done right and people contribute we will have a leg up on other programs. Georgia and Alabama land top classes because they’ve mastered the behind the scenes art of paying players. Saban taught Kirby and he took it to Athens. If other schools (Auburn/A&M) are able to do it in clear daylight then the playing field is leveled.

T Boone Pickens has donated 652 million to Texas A&M, 165 million specifically to help build Kyle Field...welcome to the big leagues fellas.

This will ruin all that we loved about college football and reinforce what we hate about the pros.

Bryce Young is going to legally get over a million dollars while an amateur in broad day light.

We are the ones in catch up mode.
