Didn’t Italy refuse to let us use some of their bases during Epic Fury?

Did Japan have drones and control the largest energy corridor?

No. And we dropped 2 nuclear bombs on them along with firebombing numerous cities.

Iran is in a much stronger position than Japan in 1945.
What a gigantic disaster.

Imagine having Japan surrounded in 1945 and we give them money to rebuild and leave the government in place. Then Japan demands that the allies stop all hostilities against Germany even though the invasion of their country has started.

It’s not the perfect analogy but it’s in the same ballpark.

Gus Malzahn was 0-15 against LSU, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, and alabama outside of Jordan-Hare stadium.

Want to know how many bowl wins he had at Auburn? Two - Birmingham bowl against Memphis and the Music City bowl against Purdue.

That’s why he was fired. He couldn’t win a big road game. It’s almost unfathomable to have a road record that bad. He was kept around way too long.
Going about as well as the Iran war did.
It’s hard to argue that they’re not a major power now with the proven ability to hold the SOH hostage.

They can wreck the global economy with the simple threat of blowing up oil tankers that pass through the strait.
quote:

If Biden had started a war with Iran, got the Strait shut down and then proposed this “deal” all the Trump absolutist would be going ape shite. It’s okay, you can be a Republican and admit this deal is an abomination. Any rational person knows that it is…

This. I’m a big Trump guy and can admit this deal is a catastrophe.

Please clearly articulate what can now happen, or, what you think will happen.

That’s easy.

- Crystal clear pathway to unlimited ballistic missiles and drones.
- Permanent control of the SOH. Ultimate Trump card to get whatever they want.
- Endless funds for terror proxies
- Crystal clear pathway to a nuclear bomb

You’re now looking at an untouchable Radical Islamic regime that will be unbound by threats of enemy military intervention.

This is only the beginning.
quote:

Why are you sky screaming so much?

Oh, I don’t know. China’s and Russia’s Middle Eastern ally decisively beat the US in the long term outcomes from this war? Iran now has a permanent presence in the middle east to do whatever they want?

Do people not realize how horrific this is for the future of the world? This is a domino falling that will lead to unfathomable consequences in the future.
quote:

The question is why? How did Trump go from the incredible early military successes of Operation Epic Fury to begging Iran for a deal?

Two reasons:

1.) Global Oil Supply chain was toast with the SOH closed

2.) Trump promised no more long term wars in the Middle East.

To alleviate #1 meant supporting a long term war in the Middle East.
It’s the biggest geopolitical disaster in the history of the United States.

Vietnam and the Iraq War might have lost a lot more lives, but the outcome of this one, because of what can now happen, is exponentially worse.

All Americans should be outraged at this deal.
You can’t make it up. Darkest day in our country since 9/11. I fear there are days ahead that will be much darker.

This administration is unable to commit to the color in the sky. A month ago Trump said Iran’s oil wells were 3-4 weeks away from permanent collapse and today he said we are 3-4 weeks away from running out of oil.

Stupid unforced errors will be this administration’s legacy.

I hate it, but it is true when it comes to his foreign policy. Emboldening and strengthening Iran will be his lasting foreign policy legacy.

The Middle Eastern future has a dark shadow over it. The future will be ugly.

Obama gave $1.7B of Iran's money back Trump gave $100B of Iran's money back AND lifted all sanctions

It is a cataclysmic failure of the Trump administration.
quote:

Thats quite the leap to equate Imperial Japan to modern Iran.

What do you call what Iran has been doing in the Middle East for the last 25+ years? They have proxies they fund in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan, Yemen, and Gaza.

They have their own empire/sphere of influence already.

They’re allied strongly with frickin Russia and China. They are IN the axis of evil. They’re no different than WWII Germany or Japan.
What a sad frickin day for our country. Never thought I’d live to see the day where the US completely surrendered.
quote:

Iran bombed one of our military bases and we spent 5 years pushing them back across a large ocean? Not seeing the parallel.

The precursors obviously aren’t the same. I’m talking the end results.

With that said, Iran has done a lot of killing throughout the Middle East and attacked our bases, by the way.

Additionally, Japan wasn’t trying to develop nuclear weapons.
We got out when we realized our selective bombing strategy was getting us nowhere.

Now here we are.

Imagine having Japan surrounded in 1945 and we decide to give them hundreds of billions to rebuild and keep their current government in place. That’s the parallel here.
It is a historically bad outcome for the US and will cause a lot of suffering in the future.

Iran came out much stronger than they were before. It’s astonishing. We bombed their military and are signing a document that pays to rebuild it all. Shame on our citizens and leaders.

I’m definitely on the right, but this deal makes me think whoever was involved with it (JD Vance?) is a complete idiot and judging by these threads and the up/down votes in them some good portion of the right agrees with me. Give me Rubio in 2028.

Vance is more worried about the economy and gas prices heading into 2028 than he is about finishing a major US geopolitical objective that should’ve been dealt with YEARS ago. We friggin surrendered.

Rubio wouldn’t have done this.
