That is great. Imagine how much more money Auburn would get if they had a $50-$100 and a $25-$50 tier? There are tens of thousands of retired grads living on a pension who would love to donate. There are many Auburn fans who live paycheck to paycheck who would love to donate. Those numbers they came out with priced a lot of people out of the equation.

I think there has been talk of lowering rates in the future.

They really are missing a HUGE market for the NIL with these lower sub tiers. $10/month and your name gets entered for a monthly raffle for a football signed by the whole team, or a Tank signed jersey, maybe something signed by the whole position group you chose to support, anything really. Tons of people would do it just to support Auburn football and feel like they are helping out even it its small. It brings the same emotional connection that betting does.

Just renewed my season tickets. Maybe I'm too old fashioned, but that's enough, maybe too much for what we've seen of late.

I'm probably going to have to give Auburn $31k next year for my incoming freshman. That's enough for me!

Man. Assuming you are in GA. Why not utilize HOPE?

I think I heard or read somewhere that they would be offering lower tiers in the future.

Just a guess, but I suspect they started high to get an initial idea of the amount of interest. If the price were too low at startup and you had more interest than you could handle, you could run into an issue where your athletes don't have enough time to fulfill their NIL obligations or you could wind up not having sufficient infrastructure/personnel to handle the demand.

Yep...

He's eligible for HOPE and Zell Miller, but couldn't get into/doesn't want to go to UGA or Tech. And he's grown-up with two alumni parents, aunts and uncles and a set of grandparents that are all Auburn alum so it's hard to convince him otherwise. $50k/year out the door with tuition and room & board.

We paid $5265/year my freshman year and about $2000/year after I got in-state tuition.

It's absolutely crazy how much it costs now.

He needs to attend KSU. You can get him a hotel in Auburn on the weekend for his pleasure and football. I love AU, but it isn't worth 200k.

Your not the ones they are targeting right now.

They are trying to get all those alumni that probably don't live anywhere near Auburn who can't go to games.

And there are plenty of parents who's kids DID go to Auburn who might contribute.

It's a plan, not a perfect option. It will evolve as all new things do.

Somethings will be a hit and some will fail and be replaced.

That's what I keep saying.

Same here and I agree 100%. I have a BA from Auburn and an MS from KSU. Both are better schools than they were 25 and 30 years ago. He's interested in math or engineering and honestly I think he could do as well with a degree from KSU as Auburn...

KSU still have the pathway program to GA Tech?

ETA

I have an engineering degree from AU. Tell him after his initial hire, the name won't matter.

People don’t just donate money without returns. What is the advantage that lures the self-interested?

The way some people melted yesterday, the return might just be winning 9 games.

There is nothing on that website that I can find that says what % of money received makes it to the athletes.

Yeah, conspicuously absent from the FAQs.

I mean this has to be part of the plan eventually right? They have to know 99% of the fanbase is laughing at the thought of paying 1k a month for an app and some men's golf memorabilia.

I have serious doubts this plan is going to be the savior of Auburn Football we need it to be.

frick that.

How have we allowed this to happen? The NFL gets to use the collegiate football system as it’s own minor leagues and the tax payers and fans have to pay for it? What a joke.

I’ll not be donating money to a state run organization for them to then turn around and pay 18-22 year olds to play a game. It’s insanity.

Amen. Same boat here. I didn’t want him at UGA (selfish reasons) but he couldn’t have gotten in at either of those 2 during early enrollment anyway.

I'm with you, but technically, you would not be giving the money to Auburn.

I'm a long-time believer that if you want the fastest and easiest way to corrupt or degrade something, just add money. I'm not so naïve to think that there hasn't been some money under the table in the past (to the extent that it has happened at Auburn, I doubt it's any different at peer schools); however, NIL is upping the ante considerably. The courts have spoken so there's no going back, but I'm not a fan.
