Totally agree. You just hate to give a game away that way.....especially at this point in the season. It was just a huge mental fart.

Yea, changing pitchers was a bad call. Dude is not ready. Throwing 25 straight fast balls put too many people on base. Yes the 3rd baseman should have tagged the guy and got it done but you cant have a guy in there in that situation when he is not ready for it and never been in that situation before... Not against a team like state

Too many breakdowns by the team and coaching staff. Had a great chance to move on through the winners bracket and did not take advantage of it

I don’t think we would have had a great chance against Vandy but 4-1 bottom 9, we should have at least been able to see. What a meltdown that was. I’ve seen it happen several times in this game though.

The game was played spotless by the players and coaching staff until the start of the 9th. What a great game up to that point. Even though we started off getting bitch slapped by the MSU pitcher, they took advantage of a few bad pitches and put points on the board when they could. Perfect execution

They’re runs man, not points.

Tough way to lose one, but if they players made the plays it's a W.

This all started with the no call when Julien had to throw over a runner that didn't slide or run out of the way, and threw it away. Should have been runner interference, 2 outs and man on 1st. Instead it was 1 out and a man in scoring position (who later became their first run). From there, we brought our closer in way too early, and it was all downhill. Julien heard whispers and got happy feet every time he touched the ball, and we asked our pitching staff to do things they were not accustomed to doing.

Not sure who Louisville throws tomorrow but hope we can at least get one win in Omaha.

Typically, teams that make a nice run at Omaha (multiple years) have an initial year where they bomb out. But they gain valuable experience. I have confidence in Butch.

That is not runner interference. He wasn't standing straight up. He has every right to be in the line.

I was taught, when that happened, drop down sidearm and hit him as hard as you can. It is then runner interference..............more importantly, everybody on that team will get down the next time.

Pitching wasn't the issue. They were getting ground balls that should have been outs. Julien really had two errors in the inning: the missed double play (should have gone to first) and the overthrow at first.

Not sure what people expect out of a pitcher at the college level? Randy Johnson or Nolan Ryan type K's on every batter?

I agree with CE, after some reflection, I am totally pumped about Auburn baseball and the direction we seem to be headed.

Agree. Just gut wrenching how we lose games.

As an auburn fan, we have some incredible highs AND incredible lows.

You don't watch much baseball do you? In the NCAA tournament like this...all pitchers are available if the team needs them to win.
Many teams have brought starters in as relievers to hold the fort or nail down a game they have a chance to win.

Pitching didn't lose this game. Poor fielding did.
To only give up 1 run(unearned) going into the 9th was a fantastic pitching performance by all those pitchers.

It was a big part of the issue in the 9th. yes the 3rd baseman went tard and could have ended it but they were getting hits on him, walks and getting guys on base. He came in and threw like 30 fastballs in a row. Just cant do that

I think we played the pitching part of the game perfect. We were set up to win and errors cost us big time. We only had so much left anyway in the bullpen. Pissed but like CE said: Bright days are ahead for the baseball program and I’m excited about it.
