Gus ain't worth $7M+. If true, then Bye Felicia.
Auburn makes coaches, not the other way around.
And Auburn doesn't need at HC either of a former failed HC with a history of failure or an immature child.

Let me reiterate that Brandon Marcello is full of shite. I have better sources than he does, and I'm not even joking.
No doubt, Dennis Dodd is usually legit though.
I wonder if Gus turns down Arky do they go after Kiffin

Arkansas is out of their minds to pay that much for Gus. What do they really think he would accomplish there?

50 million over 7 years seems to be what everybody is reporting.
AU may not have to match it... but we gotta get close.

He would stop beating them every year, for one thing

Desperate programs do desperate stuff... if Auburn had a logical ready-made option, it would make some sense to let him walk.

We shouldn't offer more than 6.5 IMO

I would trade dominating the Hawg "rivalry" for more regularly winning against our true rivals, actually.

I think a lot of his shenanigans this year are because of where he is.
It's been like that every where he has been. This is not some new thing.

He was silent at Bama
Until the day he walked away from them.

I don't think our BOTs would ever go for someone like him though
I agree

$7.1 mill for a guy with a 1-3 Bowl record, and abysmal overall record against major rivals. Yeah, no thanks.

Malzahn is said to be frustrated by the up-and-down reception he has received at Auburn, according to sources cited by CBSSports.com.
I get it. Fans are fickle and it must suck for head coaches everywhere to have to listen to the noise. However, if he is gonna let the fans' emotions dictate his decisions, he doesn't need to be coaching period.
EDIT: As for the hypothetical of Gus leaving, I don't think our AD goes after Lane. The only reasonable choice I can see is Boom. I mean, we wouldn't lose anything on defense, but our offense would certainly be worse unless Boom agrees to keep the staff intact.
Who else is there? Brohm is meh. Petrino is washed up.

I doubt fanbase is playing a factor here. Half of Arkansas loathes him

If he leaves we lose everyone. That's how it works and there is not a coach available nearly as good.

Boom is rumored to be interested in Rhett

I would be happy to see Lane become our coach. I think he learned a lot being under Saban for a few years.

7 m is a high price tag and he won't get any better of a reception and appreciation from Arkansas. Half the base hates him already.
Would like to keep him but not for that price.

And Steele may lean towards going back to UT.... that would be disappointing

Not my choice, but we would probably go hard at Boom. The D would be fine.
