If Gus thinks the pressure is off after this at either Arkansas or Auburn, he is nuts.

Personally, I think Gus is fricking with Auburn. He is going to Arkansas. Just my opinion now

Who said he demanded it? That's what Arkansas offered. I keep seeing the word demanded thrown around when it's really not the case

Exactly. Arkansas has brought him this ridiculous deal. He's telling AU if you want me to stay you have to give me a good reason to turn this thing down. I think the only one being ridiculous in this is Arkansas but they know who they want & are willing to pay out the butt for him

Exactly. We have zero idea what Gus has asked for.

Imagine another company called you and offered you basically double what you are making now and pretty much a contract that would end your earning needs for you and your family for the rest of your life and the rest of theirs. Would you just say, no because I like where I am or would you act upon it?

My hope is we can come up with a deal that keeps him but doesn't match the absurdity of $50 million guaranteed. I don't know what that looks like or if it happens but we will see

FWIW I do think Gus would like to stay at AU but if his alma mater is willing to give him everything & the world, that might end up being hard to pass up. We will see what happens. Just ready for this thing to end either way

Also ppl better be ready for our recruiting class to tank if Gus leaves. Timing is just awful

I didn’t think Henderson State had that kind of money

The money is stupid and nobody is worth that. But if the market gets that high, which it looks like it is headed that way, you either move with it or fall behind

more premium stuff but whatever from marcello

I echo everything Phillip said in his post earlier today.

The report of $7.1 million/year at Arkansas might not be exact but it is in that neighborhood, according to a source familiar with the offer at Arkansas.

Gus Malzahn hopes Auburn provides him an answer/more security/a new contract by Monday morning. This could move fast in less than 24 hours, and if you hear Mike Norvell or another coach's name surfacing as a candidate at Arkansas, that likely could mean the discussions have hit a snag or Arkansas has moved on.

Arkansas folks believe Gus would bring Hugh Freeze on board as the offensive coordinator.

Arkansas is also willing to spend a lot of money to draw top-tier assistants to Gus' staff. I don't have a hard number for the pool of cash they'd be willing to spend.

The issue that could hang things up at Auburn is guaranteed money/buyout.

Plus if you look at Gus’ body of work from 06-17 he probably deserves top 8 money right now.

Recruiting is already tanking, due to Gus' shitting the bed against our main rivals. They've been able to negative recruit for the past 3-4 years.

You haven't been paying attention. AU went from being a lock to not make top 10 for first time under Malzahn to being an almost lock to make it based off this season. Has a chance to be one of Malzahn's strongest classes to date

Because he beat thUGA and Bama this year. I guarantee puking all over himself again yesterday cost some recruits. And if he goes back to his usual 8-5 self next year, you think he'll win any of those head-to-head battles? Nope
