Auburn would be dumb to pay that after a conference championship loss. He can be content with $5-6 million, or head on his way to play us next year. Arkansas can have him. Lane Kiffin would wreck shop with our roster/QB.

Did Arkansas win the lottery? They just paid Bert 11.8 million, they are 2 million in the red on stadium renovations, plus Gus' buyout and his new contract. That's possibly a 30 million dollar swing......i just don't see it

same here but he just needs to come out and say so and stop acting like we owe his arse. sounds a lot like he is looking for lowered expectations and less pressure for the same pay. arky sound perfect for him.

Does AU have to match that just to keep Gus?

I think anyone we hire is a crap shoot. Kiffen? How do we know if he carries that attitude baggage.

Is he a SEC caliber coach to compete with saban etc..?

I think we have to keep Gus to continue to compete. He has had us 3 times in the SEC CHamp in 6 years OC.HC. 2 Nat Champ appearances...Is that not good enough?

Does anyone here think Gus is worth more money than Urban Meyer, cause I sure as hell don't and Urban is making $6.5M and has championships to show for it. He has OSU in contention every year.

Attitude? The guy is just confident. Give me that all day, everyday over randomly timid Gus. Players feed off that mentality.

from jay tate:

We’re told there is a legitimate chance that Malzahn could leave for Arkansas.

Malzahn and his agent have received an offer from Arkansas. They have given Auburn an opportunity to make a counter, though it wasn’t a “match this or else” edict.

It’s more about getting more buyout protection and other, non-salary (written) assurances. We’re told a raise is part of it, but, again, it’s not necessarily about matching.

We’re told discussions have been in progress since last night.

We are the only team to win the west with Saban at Bama. The only person on those three staffs is Gus. I dunno. I’m not happy with yesterday’s game but...

Arky is desperate, so it wouldn't surprise me but they are in the hole on their stadium renovations combined with paying off Bert and Jeff Long.

@BarrettSallee
now
Gus Malzahn is asking for a lot of money according to @dennisdoddcbs. I'm told Arkansas expects things to move quickly (either with Gus or somebody else) VERY quickly

Well whatever. I don’t give a frick anymore with this drama bullshite. That dude is too big a pussy to deal with occasional backlash from fans getting paid millions, then frick you. It won’t be any different at another school getting paid that much.

PM just posted this, it's VIP but I don't give a shite at this point...

I am told there is absolutely full understanding of the urgency to move quickly if needed.

At this moment, I'd say there is about a 60 percent chance that Gus remains as Auburn's head coach for something less than a $50 million guarantee and something more than a lot of people will like. We shall see.

How the heck is something like this 60% possible. Such a random number

If Gus thinks the pressure is off after this at either Arkansas or Auburn, he is nuts.

That MFer better win with the $$$$ he is demanding.

The perception that Arkansas would be happy with 7-8 wins a year is really not true. Gus's seat would be flaming hot after a few years of mediocrity while being paid near the top of the coaching market.

Who said he demanded it? That's what Arkansas offered. I keep seeing the word demanded thrown around when it's really not the case
