Last week Matt Hill was getting chewed out, this week he laid a guy out on kick return. That guy might still be laid out in Jordan Hare right now.

The main thing I noticed was the urgency to score before the half ended. I thought Gus would get conservative and just take the lead into the half since we got the ball back.

Nope. That SOB took a shot for end zone AND we got ball back. I like this Gus and I hope and pray he keeps this mentality and play calling going because it is the only way we have a shot in hell making it through this gauntlet of a schedule.

meh. He’s played in all 5 games and all of his sacks and over half of his TFL has come from the Kent State game. Only has one QB hurry according to CFBstats.com
MUH STATS!!! You have so much egg on your face from Bo Nix hating to OL hating to Gus hating. Why not add a few shots to the face with Marlon Davidson hating

How many fumbles by each back? I know DJ didn’t have one. Shivers had a bad one where he never got the ball cleanly.

Yeah by blitzing. Would you not rather have 4 successfully rushing the passer and an extra guy in coverage?

Iam concerned w our pass rush. Even in the MSU game, whenever there was a good bull rush, the only guy doing it was Brown. Nothing from the ENDS. And it seemed unless we blitzed we didnt have much of a chance at a sack.
Kat is just not strong enough to push off those tackles (reminds me so much of Bud Dupree w Steelers).
Hope that Derek Hall can get healthy and have a chance to give us some push off the end..

This is going to hurt against LSU, UGA, and Bama. Someone has to step up.

Yes LSU and Bama air raids are going to be trouble if we can’t get heat on the QB.

This team is fun to watch. Gus and Steele are both doing great.

Hard to have quality observations against FCS quality opponents

Agreed. Blackledge said we led the nation in QB pressures last night. Concerning the edge rushers, Kat had a big time sack and over ran it he just needs to slow down, not speed up. Davidson is fine and Coe isn't bad either. TD is the one who needs to take a step. We've seen it from him, but we need it to be more consistent. The fact is you don't get pressure on every passing play.

Another reality is that our blitzing is way more effective partly because of the attention the DL requires this season.

1. We're running the ball outside a lot more... me likey
2. We're noticing open wrs and getting them the ball quickly
3. Routes still leave a lot to be desired. We have hit the middle of the field 3 times though in the last two games. That's progress.
4. We need edge rushers
5. LBs have been fine
6. We need to work on our safety defense
7. Where is Nick Coe?
8. McCreary is playing like a 4*
9. I like all the sweeps and qb runs.
10. Ability to get to the QB is going to dictate how UF and LSU games go.

There are some prevailing theories on pass rush. In the case of a QB like Schraeder if you rush your ends upfield you tend to create running lanes for the QB. I’d say we did fine for a QB with Schraeder’s skill set by not letting him run all over us.

Agreed. Sacks aren’t the be all end all for a pass rush in 2019. The goal now is simply that you don’t want the QB to be comfortable, regardless of what he is good at specifically

Did anyone tell our defense that we are allowed to actually catch the ball when thrown by an opponent's QB? It's called an interception and it's really popular with the kids. We might want to look into doing the interception.

1) we are 5-0
2) MSU is average at best and are not a disciplined team. Glad Mullen is gone.

1. Bo hit the deep ball more than once
2. Defense played well at times
3. Tutt flipped the field on punt returns
4. Inside zone is not our only run play
5. Schwartz is fast, extremely fast, hand timed at 4.12 fast

Bonus: We had some ball security issues. Clean it up.

Ehhh, two of the fumbles I'm not gonna put on the ball carrier. One caught a perfectly placed uppercut, one got the fat dick from the replay booth.

Running in the open field requires the runner to tuck the ball by not leaving space for the punch out.

Tiki Barber struggled early in his career until he adjusted by tucking the ball high and tight.

I saw the Detroit-Chiefs game and there were five fumbles in the 3rd quarter alone. The announcers called the ball punch the Peanut Tillman punch. One little cornerback caused two fumbles by himself.

Ball security is not in vogue for real.

We seem to be improving various aspects of the team week by week.

Punt coverage: improved
Run game: improved
Deep ball: improved

Ball security: TBD

Yep. Another game of allowing 0 Punt return yards. Doubt we are last now.
