I think UGA and AU go in that scenario.

The committee has already set a precedent by putting Bama in in 2017 as a non-conference/non-division winner.

If Auburn is sitting at 11-1 on Championship Saturday with the only loss being a competitive loss to LSU in Baton Rouge, you would have to think they are in.

They would be 11-1, with a win over Bama (who would still probably be in the top 10 with losses to LSU and AU) and a loss to either:
1) SEC Champion and probably #1 LSU
2) SEC West champ and top 5 LSU, but then a win over the SEC Champ (which would either be UGA of UF).

Asterisk, there isn't any Auburn fan who isn't loving the season right now. Some just take a different tack on how they handle their business. Posibarners wanted to say AU Football was alright in spite of overwhelming evidence to the contrary last year.

If you don't think Gus made significant changes this past off-season to the way he handles his business based on critiques, you are naive. Sure, Gus may have "had it in him" all along, but there was something about his behavior that was keeping this team in the ditch.

Something has definitely changed with Gus. In his pre- and post-game interviews, he's made multiple references to things pundits have been complaining about in a way that leads you to believe that he has more self-awareness. I almost think he’s gotten a life coach. He’s lost weight. His last couple of press conferences were full of real analysis and not coach speak. He sounds authentic and looks dynamic and bright. He’s definitely more dialed-in on the sideline. Not just screaming and looking phrenetic, but being very pointed in his criticisms. In the past, he’s always looked like he’s having a pre-snap epileptic fit on the sidelines. Out of control. As a player on the field, I’m not sure you could get anything out of it. Now, he is still loud and animated, but he looks like he has really worked on his communication.

Regardless of what Gus has been working on personally, if you watch the way he interacts with Bo Nix during the game, he clearly sees Bo as an apt pupil. That probably breeds a lot more trust with the play calling and just puts Gus in a better mood in general.

We have the toughest schedule in the NCAA this year. It is yet to be seen how Gus will play-call LSU, UGA, and Bama. I haven't seen anybody on this board who didn't want Gus to succeed. But some want AU Football to succeed whether Gus is a part of that equation or not. I'll be Gus' biggest cheerleader, but because he is being paid to produce, it'll be based on his production, not just the fact that he's wearing an Auburn shirt.

This is a good analysis. However, my fear is still that we assume he's turned a corner as an HC because we're 5-0, not because he's actually changed his approach.

But I'm a cockeyed pessimist when it comes to AU football. I'll keep believing right up until they rip my heart out again

Here’s a chaos what if - LSU beats AU and AU beats UGA both in tight, hard fought losses. All three teams win out other wise. UGA beats LSU in hard fought loss in SEC championship. So you got all three sitting there with 1 loss each to each other in tight games.

Auburn easily goes based on strength of schedule.

I think TD must be hurt more than we are led to believe. All summer long they were talking about how blazingly fast he was off the edge. And now he can barely get back there.

I understand, and I have been as critical of Gus as anybody in what I hope to be a constructive manner. I like the guy and have repeatedly said that. He's a good family man, his players don't get in trouble, and they graduate. Hes a great ambassador for AU.

Hes made some fundamental changes in the way he approaches football, and anyone who is paying attention can see that.

I think he got some bad advice and tried to be "CEO Coach" instead of taking what he knows and delegating the other things he doesn't know, which is what hes doing this year. He is clearly dialed in on what we are good at and what we're not, and he is playing to those strengths. The way he has handled Bo this year is really remarkable. I don't believe in being positive just for the sake of being positive....I'll leave that to the posibarners, but I also believe that when a guy's doing a great job you should get an attaboy. And Gus is doing a great job this year.

Auburn RG Mike Horton has been named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, and QB Bo Nix has been named SEC Freshman of the Week.

Just want to say, frick some of you. Enjoy what you have and realize where AU has been and who we actually are.

Yeesh. Would love for someone to go back and find your posts when Gus was rotating 5 Qbs or running the Whirlybird or calling trick plays unnecessarily, or settling for FGs, or choking to LSU and UGA or or or or or or or

Gus earned his criticisms. He also has earned our respect this year. This is a what have you done for me lately game

This can't be possible our OL sucks. I kid. I kid. Good for him...he has shown flashes of promise the last couple of years, but his play has been very consistent this year. I wonder if he played through injury last year?

Not a single pirouette this year from a set where the H back fakes to 2 backs and throws to the sideline

Auburn has 16 explosive plays this season (30-plus yards), tying Alabama for most in the SEC.

Auburn had 24 such plays all of last season, which ranked second-to-last in the conference.

AUBURN FILM ROOM: Bo Nix was 7-8 against Mississippi State on passes of 10-plus yards. He only threw 3 passes behind the line of scrimmage.

With a healthier Seth Williams and Anthony Schwartz, plus a strengthening offensive line, Auburn turned Nix loose.

One observation I have made is that Eli Stove doesn’t appear near as fast or explosive. Injury factored in, he has definitely lost some burst. I hope he finds it again soon.

He may be carrying himself a little different and the play calling has slightly changed but its not like he has overhauled his entire approach. The biggest difference? He has a QB who can make plays and the other players are stepping up. Thats the biggest difference

But guys like PrisonMike are looking for a reason to enjoy the season all the sudden. Gus is changed. He is totally different. He is actually talking to the press and giving them info. Who gives a crap what he says to the press.

Its just an excuse. One play this year would have changed the entire perception of these "Gus has changed" fans and not one of them can convince me different.

Had Seth Williams not came back and caught the pass at the end of the Oregon game and the DB had intercepted the ball ending our victory, it would have been the biggest shite show you had ever seen. We would have lost when Gus could have just positioned the ball in the middle of the field and kicked the FG to win the game.

It would not be "FG gus has changed. He is more aggressive, bla bla bla like happened. He would have been a total dumbass and one the hot seat wanting to be fired that day. The Auburn plane would be gettin fueled up and ready to look for the next guy. Like it has always been labeled. When it works, your a genius. When it doesnt, you are a dumbass.....

Now someone tell me that I am wrong?
