The one thing an undersized OT needs most though is time.. to gain weight and develop.

Eston is 16? and has 15 months to go before he graduates high school. He’s 6-6, 275. Pritchett is 6-6, 280. Woody is 6-5, 270.

These guys are not really undersized for their age and class. They’ve got time on their side. It would be different if these kids were 225 or something along those lines

The goal should be to find the prospects with the greatest long-term upside and metrics. If your idea is to plug in true freshmen at OT in the SEC, well, you're probably going to be in for a bad time unless you're bringing in an absolute freak. It would be silly to evaluate based on trying to immediately fill starting positions. We're in rough shape at the position, but this isn't a "we need to find an immediate starter out of HS" type situation.

Most of the kids who have "current weight" out of HS are just tubs of lard. That isn't what anyone is looking for.

And I don’t love our roster at OT but there’s guys there to bridge the gap and I’m sure we’ll get a grad transfer OT at some point late spring and probably another one next spring.

2021 OTs
Jackson
Troxell
Coffey
Zierer
Smith

With our need at RB I can't imagine we don't go after Cody Brown unless it's some sort of issue with fit.

I would guess we take him. He's not a burner by any stretch of the imagination, but he's a good sized kid who runs hard.

For Brown, it may come down to whether Brown thinks he’s a fit in the offense and whether Auburn prefers a post-spring upperclassman transfer instead.

Also doesn’t seem like MAR has transferred. So I’m not sure if he’s coming back or not. I don’t think a reporter has asked about that

I wonder if MAR was waiting to see where Gus landed first.

For the record I still agree with everything being said about the OL. I'm just keeping a realistic picture and saying its most likely going to take a few years to get the OL situation fixed unless we happen to find some guys who can play early or have a few years of eligibility. Still plenty of time to find transfers and recruits who fit that too. Its just important to manage expectations and not expect the OL as a whole (depth, starters, class balance) to get fixed in 1 year.. maybe not even 2.

I would hope people have low OL expectations but we’re an unreasonable bunch overall

Even if we decide to go after Brown, if he thinks he can be a #1 RB, then he is not going to look to Auburn to fill HIS need, right? Just logical to me...

I can't remember if Brown was used as a 3 down back at UT...

Brown is an incoming HS signee I believe.

Technically, no. He was officially part of the UT program and needed a release. I know it may be splitting hairs, but he wasn't a pure HS recruit who waited late to sign.

He signed a NLI but didn’t enroll, according to KN. So he needed a release from that NLI.

He can’t sign another so you’re correct on t he signee portion. But toward the discussion, he has never enrolled or played football for UT. The other poster may have been thinking about Eric Gray, the transfer that landed at OU recently

Yeah my only point is we can't know whether he was a 3-down back at UT yet. And being the #1 RB probably shouldn't be a concern with an incoming freshman.

Thanks for the correct....

Thats not what you guys said you wanted. You all said we should not go by stars but go by if they fit or not

That seems to be what Harsin is doing.

That's only if they're rated low. Come on Lanier, get it together
