There should be more of this stuff happening, I'd think. It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out with the law and whatnot.

Oh great. Get ready to not even win 10 games next year of that's true. New assistants or not.

It's going to get bad for Mike next season if he returns.

I mean he's right.

We're more likely to make a bowl game in football than we are to fire Mike Anderson.

We don't care about winning and are irrelevant. Besides a few old school UK fans, we have zero respect. I was just at Bridgestone for our arse beating and felt about as cool as an A&M fan. It's pathetic.

That's what we are now, just a Jed Clampett money program with a bunch of weird fans that are "just happy to be here!" and call the Hogs.

Take a look around the next time you're at a game and you'll know what I mean.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted for this. It's the truth.

I'll always love my alma mater, but the last 8 years have made me profoundly disillusioned with this program. It's not just that we're losing and can't seem to climb out of the shitter in football or basketball, but our fans have shown their asses in terms of the constant excuse-making for losing and bad coaches.

At this point, we really are a "happy to be here" program with a big money yet small time fan base.

I would suspect If he’s going to be gone it will be released in the next 24 hrs.

Don't the rumors come from the fact it would happen Monday if it is true?

The nba folks saying mike doesn't develop players is an eye opener and most likely a dagger to recruiting.

The best players want the best chance of going to the next level,Mike's system of play doesn't seem to develop fundamentals to help on the next level.

I'm not low rating Mike,it's his system of play that will not draw the best players, outside of true Arkansas fan kids.

Whatever happens,I'm just ready to love basketball again.I miss it.

Yep. Also zero skepticism, no real investigative reporting from media types. Fans, donors, media, and trustees all get pulled in by access to the coaches and will use their influence to tell the rank and file "next year it'll happen". A narrative gets pushed, next thing you know, stupid fans defend bielema as someone who didn't use coachspeak. Look back at it now. A show about Bielema making eggs in his kitchen? Recruiting gold! Jeff Long spending every weekend in Dallas? Great exposure for the program!! Ticket prices up? We're paying for facilities to get TOP RECRUITS!! Meanwhile these folks ride high on the hog and we have shite athletics.

Jeff Long wears nice suits and everyone hails him as a business genius. Today everyone knows our brand isn't worth shite and we're millions in the hole on a vacant football stadium expansion

When will people learn? Coaches all use "coachspeak" and never give us the straight story. That's for media and university leadership (Chancellor, System President, BOT)

There's just no point in doing it. You're asking reporters to put their own careers at risk for what, some extra clicks? It's not like they'll get a raise and promotion for it, but they will get on the university's bad side and make their own job harder.

Arkansas has no real "insiders" in the media, nor do they have any real investigative types...what few real media the state has are all basically beat guys or recruiting guys...They're jobs are really just to report on the games and the visits.

Wally Hall should be the guy leaking info to tbe public but that moron is as big of a joke and as clueless as sunshine Rick.

And if you look, when giant college stories usually get broken, it's usually always some national guy at yahoo or espn bleacher report, etc.

Think about it, the entire state really only has about a half dozen real sports reporters.. And they only work for 2 or 3 outlets. Hell, half of them work for the democrat, and if you have any idea about how that place works behind the scenes, they are beyond cheap and probably worked to the bone and underpaid. They don't have the time nor the resources to get pulled off the beat for 3 months to do some big investigative stuff.

Plus, what few sources they do have (which Realistically can only be a handful of people) you can't afford to burn even one of them.

Think about it, unlike the pros, where there's always a game of leverage going on between agents and owners and player and coaches and execs, etc, college has none of that.

There are no agents and players can barely look at media types... It's so foreign to them and they'd be so scared to talk its crazy.

So that really only leaves coaches and ADs, and the occasional trustee as a source. And they're all on the same team.

The only guy who I thought really had good contacts was, amazing, Mattingly. But he became blinded after the Bert thing and now, without a daily show to produce content for, he doesn't have to work them for news anymore like before.

It's ridiculous that our fans oy have rumors and message board "I'm hearing this" guy to get info in situations like we're in now. Stories should be swirling, but we haven't heard a peep if Mike is actually getting fired. Basically, unless Pat Forde or somebody like that gets involved (and why would a national guy want to at an irrelevant program like Arkansas has become) we're not going to know anything about the coaching situation until probably about an hour or so before it happens.

IF you want insight, watch the games on tv (or record them to watch when you get back from the game) and listen to the color commentary.

When the color guys shift from backing the coach to backing the program, in the way their comments come across about the program's current situation you will know change is coming.

I hinted about it earlier, but it was only recently that the media members finally revealed the truth of the coaching search that followed Nolan's firing. For years the narrative was allowed be created and repeated as fact that Self was set to be the next Arkansas HC, but the pending lawsuit "forced the hand" of the university to hire a minority.

The truth was Self was offered more money than Nolan was making at the time, Illinois matched the offer and Self chose to stay at Illinois.

The Altman situation was initially passed of as the situation being so bad, all the players at the time was going to be academically ineligible that he got cold feet and went back to Creighton, a situation so bad we were lucky Pelphrey chose to leave South Alabama. In this case the truth of Frank not allowing him to bring his academic support and hire is own guys for administration roles. OF course this happened after he chose to fire Heath after a phone conversation with BCG's agent who told him he was willing to accept the job if offered.

Anyway listen to the color guys, they were the first in the media to "turn" on Bert during his last year.

I don't think a journalist is putting their arse on the line to ask MA

"the NBA says you don't develop your players... What's your response?"

"When can fans reasonably expect relying on JUCOs to stop"

"you promised success in your speech after accepting this job. What remaining resources do you need to achieve those goals? Has the AD given you them?"

Or when we lost all those road games in a row few years back, there was zero asked about the one issue on everyone's mind. This is actually the kind of shite that is a journalist's job.

I don't need a simple regurgitation of who scored when and coach quotes. That's not sports reporting. Many sports articles in national papers today are written by computers using artificial intelligence and are simply based off the box score. But in Arkansas, we use real humans spending hours to do what computers have been programed to do in seconds
