It is so wonderful to have a football team that is well over .500 again that I could just stop here and be happy at 8-4 every year.

I don't think that's what Pittboss has in mind though.

For us to get to the next level and compete every year for the SEC Pod or West or whatever is going to be a huge step. The next level is for us to be competitive in every game, winning almost all the games we should, some of the ones we shouldn't and more than our share of the 'coin flips' (3 pts or less).

I like our chances. Yurachek isn't afraid to pony up and he seems to have an eye for talent. I think our BOD is liking what they see from athletics...so what's stopping us?

Obviously....we need to recruit. That's easy to say but in today's world its a major operation involving NIL partnership recruiting and management, communications with kids, grooming and maintaining the kids we have and then...there's the portal.

Arkansas must be the aggresive new face in recruiting or we'll be stuck at 6-6 to 9-3 forever.

Then...we must keep our coaches or replace them with upgrades or at least equivalents. You simply don't win today without a staff of coaches that other people covet. I don't care how much these guys love Pittboss and each other...they all go home to that former head cheerleader who has her eyes on bigger houses, more cars, boats, etc. Monster raises are easily turned down...how many of you would turn down generational wealth? Exactly...nada.

So...we'll lose good coaches from time to time. Gotta buck up and replace them fast and keep the kids off the portal as you do.

Frankly...its a mess...no way I'd want to manage all that and I hope we have an army on it. It sure was fun to start winning again. Sadly, in today's game the stuff on the field is almost an afterthought.

Go Hogs.

We still lack speed on D. replacing those hard- nosed linebackers with speedier types is a priority. Those kids played as hard as any, but size/speed limited them against better competition.

Our Oline is still average at best. MUST recruit/train your way better, quickly.

Those are our two glaring holes right now.

True, although our 3-2-6 lessens the need for linebackers who can move quickly laterally

Fast linebackers just always seem to be a luxury reserved for the top programs

We are going to be a 6-6 to 8-4 program for the next few years...it is what it is.

The super seniors and players hungry for succes pushed us to the top of that range.

We just have to keep recruiting and building and hiring quality assist. coaches for us to break thru.

NIL oppurtunities and the portal will have to be a very important focus going forward.

I agree. The SEC is just too competitive for us to reasonably expect more than 6-6 to 8-4 until our talent level goes up considerably. We need to start producing classes like Chad’s 2019 class on an annual basis and that could get us to the 7-5 to 10-2 range if coaching continues to improve. Then just keep building the brand.

A good goal is probably for us to get to bowl eligibility next year, close the 2022 class strong with a low 20s ranking, and build the foundation for a borderline top 15 class in 2023.

Pittman was +3 Coach Effect this year. That's elite levels for a P5 head coach.

He and Kiffin were basically the best coaches in the SEC this year.

8-4 is a remarkable season any way you slice it... It's due to Pittman's organizational skills, his hiring of two A-level coordinators, and having so many 22-24 yr olds on the field.

Unless recruiting gets into the top 10-15, the 8-4 to 9-3 range is basically your ceiling in the SEC West with Pittman's profile so far. We'll see how he is affected if he loses coordinators and how he hires replacements. That will be a good indicator of how successful He's going to be longterm.

No matter how you slice it, NIL dels must start coming through bigger.

Thats asking a hell of a lot of a team that is losing 75% of its productive defense and probably at least 30% of its offense. We are going to have to get some big transfers in order to hit that mark IMO. Schedule next year is still tough...Cincinnati will still be good (but not as good) unless Fickle leaves; BYU is in the Top25 annually; And the SEC schedule goes without saying on level of difficulty

I did a poor job of stating it...but yes...we are a 6-6 to 9-3 team at best without major overhaul in our talent acquisition practices. What do you think those are?

It can be done. It will require money, strategy, money, organized booster assistance, money and apparently a fleet of Dodge Chargers.

I’ll be serving the kool-aid if we go 9-3 next year. Would be incredible.

Recruiting depth.

We can/have done it with rbs/wrs/QBs.

Need to beef up the depth on the lines (which has happened in the past) and I'm sure Pitt will get done, this takes time via hs recruiting.

The difference as far as this thread is concerned in the sec us depth in the secondary, Arkansas had decent starters , but the talent falls off a cliff after that. Most of the walk-ons find the field in these spots.

Chaggy really fricked the roster with his need for "his guys" only. Hopefully Pitt will get it balanced so recruiting can focus on wants after needs are filled.

He has the opportunity to have super seniors at these positions again next year which should help with getting the young guys up to speed. Covid has created a wonderful opportunity for Arkansas the Pitt has been taking advantage of with the super seniors.

Availability of $$$ isn't our problem. Using it properly is.

My first thought is no way we can get there with what we're losing on defense. Then I consider how bad Ole Miss is on defense and realize we could try the shootout route if we have someone step up at WR.

6 or 7 wins are most likely next season.

Portal portal and portal. We've had tremendous success with the portal. Franks, Cunningham, Thompson, Ridgeway, Utsey, Williams, Smith.

Need to expand on that. We have never recruited well outside of the state and never will. Probably shouldn't sign more than 15 or so high school players. There's no point in signing a marginal prospect away from a sunbelt school when you can let him go there and then poach him later if he pans out.

The Muss model works. A combination of overachievers from small schools and talented players that aren't panning out in their current situation.

All I know is, Arkansas is going to have to stop little dicking around with assistant salaries if you want to have any chance of keeping them. Odom and Briles are both $2 Million coordinators. With the $$ windfall that is the SEC (especially with all the new TV money coming in soon), they need to stop being so stingy on coaching pool salaries when places like Alabama has 30 coaches and LSU is about to pay a d-coordinator nearly $3 million.

Especially as the school that hosts the Broyal’s award. We need to make it top notch to get class A assistants.

Pittman alluded to this in his post Mizzou press conference. He first said something along the lines of they weren’t satisfied with 8-4, then amended that mid sentence and said depending on how hard the schedule was, that 8-4 is a good thing.

Pittboss expects better than 8-4, but can appreciate it at the same time.

Everyone is pretty spot on. We have to recruit at the highest levels possible, and make the portal a priority. We lack speed, and depth. I think we need as much exposure as we can get for Pittman. I think there isn’t a more genuine man coaching in college football, and there wouldn’t be a parent in America that wouldn’t feel good about putting their kid in his hands, if they knew him.
