I never said I did think this. But you said you think he is in WAY over his head so I was curious what that was based off of.
I'm not arguing one way or the other, however I am cautiously optimistic and not particularly concerned with his time at Memphis. I'm not taking the time to look up any comparisons but I'm sure people at LSU had their reservations about Saban when he got hired from Michigan State. He showed flashes of being a good coach there but it's not like he was lighting up the world.
I like what I've seen and heard from Silverfield and, more than that, the players he and his staff have been coaching for the last 9+ months. I understand people's hesitation though, but i think more of it has to do with what we've been through over the last 15 or so years and the fact that everyone wanted the big-name hire and didn't get it. Will he work out, nobody knows.

Winning 9 games at Arkansas isn't some grand achievement.
The monkey with a whistle did it more than a few times and Pittman was a two point conversion away from winning 10.
None of them are any good and I would say Silverfield is better than both.

That’s a great point. Pittman won 3 SEC games in his first year (I think). Should’ve beat Auburn too but the refs screwed us.
And people are adamant that Pittman is/was a bad coach.
If that’s the case, Silverboy should win at least 3 SEC games this season, or he would essentially be worse than Pittman, right?

We see false equivalence and cherry picking from fans who have already made up their minds and are looking to rationalize it. I'm looking forward to seeing it play out. If we can get back to winning the games we should, which looks to be 3 this year, plus a couple of blind pig wins, I'll be happy.

I’m mainly upset that we never put our coaches in a position to win by asking them to compete in the toughest semi pro division football has to offer, with a shoestring budget compared to the rest. If you invest Mississippi state and Kentucky level money you’ll get Mississippi state and Kentucky level results. And that’s not silverfield or Pittmans fault.

Anxious to see how we look. Utah looked pretty decent on offense last night. Wouldn't say their defense was elite.
Winnable game but we might have to win a shootout unless our D is the antithesis of a year ago.
Dantzler is the real deal and he has decent receivers. Running back wasn't special but solid.

We have plenty of resources and talent to get 7-8 wins here every year, period. Talent and resources is the difference between 8 wins or the CFP. Everything we’ve experienced since the motorcycle wreck goes back to coaching and effort.
We’ll know by year 2 if Silverfield is moving in the right direction.

Despite the score, I was not impressed with Utah last night. If we have competent SEC caliber line play we will have our way with them and could get ugly.

Idaho moved the ball on them all night with a former walk-on at RB. I think we will have a puncher's chance.

I don't think it's a puncher's chance. If we're a true SEC team we'll dominate both sides of the line of scrimmage. They have zero returning starters on both sides of the line.

I think our receivers can beat their corners. Idaho was getting by them all night but they didn’t have a QB who could hit them.

Gotta love seeing this. Would’ve been a great weapon to have this year. Nothing better than seeing a homegrown kids go ball out somewhere else.

I get being frustrated with how Pittman crashed out once the portal era entered full swing, but he's not in the same category as Chad and Bert, especially when you consider Chad and Bert were before NIL and the massive roster budget disadvantage Pittman had to operate under.

Silverfield gets it. We do not know if that equates to wins but the guy just gets it, IMO. I really want him to succeed and so far he is doing all the right things.
