re: Pitching longevity question

Ryan specifically said kids should be throwing more but with repeatable mechanics. With better conditioning and recovery. Not sure what book you read but I'm sure his opinion hasn't changed.

I think he’s right. Kids pitch too much and don’t throw enough. Kids don’t play long toss, ever. Kids I start coaching in their teens have no idea what I’m talking about and I’m having to teach them essentially how to play catch and long toss. Coupled with playing nearly year round and it’s only getting worse.

The specialization has also killed kids in other ways. They don’t develop different muscle groups by playing a variety of sports.

Yuracheck is a pu$$y for allowing our biggest home non-conference game to get an 11AM kickoff. That's fricking absurd. There's no other school that would be ok with this. Notre Dame doesn't even have an 11AM home kickoff scheduled.

That does suck for what is already a weak home schedule. Silver lining is if we win it’ll probably be on highlights the rest of the day…and if we get throttled it won’t be on national tv
Edmonds catch was 28 years ago today…man I feel old.

Only watched the first episode so far but I think the dismissed the possibility of it being J&J pretty early in the first episode. Think they tracked the bottles back to 2-3 different manufacturing facilities that were several states apart.
Awesome that’s very helpful.

Is that stainless top plate bolted to a PVC flange that is glued on? Only way I can think of attaching to the pipe or am I missing something?

I’ve seen decent advice posted in here on rare occasions so it’s worth a shot

At the 2:00 mark you see the contraption I’m trying to build. It’s from a Mark Rober video where he builds a pneumatic device that will lower someone to the ground regardless of their weight be constricting the airflow as the piston moves through the cylinder chamber.

I’ve searched online, used ChatGPT, but cannot find information on how he built this. I have a rough idea how it works. Rope routed thru pulley, into the chamber, attached to a weight the same size of the chamber and probably some type of air valve at the top to regulate how much air is pushed out, thus changing the descending speed.

However, I need some advice on what materials to use and where to source them. Is the chamber just a clear pvc? There also appear to be some metal collars on both ends. Not sure what those are. Assume they are more structurally sound than gluing on pvc end caps? I have no idea how much force/pressure would build up inside and if it blew the pvc caps off you’d have a free fall.

If I can get it figured out I plan on putting in a treehouse.

Any thoughts or ideas?

But we won every series. We went 4–0 in the SEC-T. We hit 109 home runs for a school record (which we just broke this year). That level of consistency isn't punching above our weight class, we just fell apart at Arkansas o'clock.

The difference this year IMO is that team couldn’t “manufacture” runs outside of the long ball. That’s been my argument since the emphasis on launch angle, metrics, etc at all levels. It’s great for 162 games (40-50 in college) but if you hit a slump at the wrong time your toast. I feel our approach this year is more consistent and more often than not we are seeing better quality AB’s, even when the long ball isn’t there.

Every team that makes a run has guys step up that maybe didn’t deliver a ton in the regular season. Usually it’s pitchers. If we have a few arms that step up I’m cautiously optimistic.
Idk. I’ve listened thru it once. May grow on me but after first listen not nearly as good as the last 2.

Best songs were the ones already released.

What in the absolute frick has happened to this lineup? We went from one of the great offensive seasons 2 seasons ago to one of the worst performing offenses in baseball since May of last season. It's remarkable. It's insane. They can't hit their way out of a wet paper bag at this point. Seitzer was clearly a scapegoat and there are deeper issues at play here.

I know Riley had his personal hitting coach pass away, last year maybe? I also know as of last year Chipper hasn’t been involved much. I also think guys like Wash and others moving on had more of an impact that folks realize.

player and the poster I went through a year where I could not throw the ball back to the pitcher. I could throw down to 2nd and 3rd without a problem. Had to totally retrain my throwing angle. I still have occasional issues when I'm throwing around with my kids.

I’ve dealt with the same thing. I could pitch, throw out runners trying to steal….but I couldn’t throw the ball back to the pitcher. Like Major League 2 bad. I couldn’t play catch. It was awful, 100% mental and hard to explain how difficult it is to fix.

Always felt bad for guys who experienced it at the professional level.
At the filter thing is a part that needs replacing every so often.

Wait till more automakers start charging you a monthly fee to access shite you already paid for like heated seats, remote start, etc.
Last of the Breed (lamour)
The Lonesome Gods (lamour)
Lonesome Dove (McMurtry)

All 3 are great, especially on drives. Narration is great. First 2 in particular are easy to get lost in. LD would cover your trip there and back. It’s 30+ hours I think.

I think the Boogie stuff is overblown as a way to cope with starting 0-5 in conference. We couldn’t hit a shot for a good stretch there. The times he tried to take over and force shots was out of necessity. We need him to contribute some solid minutes if we have any shot of winning games this weekend.

Pretty sure he took the opening handoff up the middle for 80 against us in the early 2000’s.
This move could backfire. How many QBs actually brining in $3M? If they were to come up with the money someone is inevitably going to ask why don’t they just take the $3M and go buy the best QB in the portal.

“That was a called play Chuck, and I called it”

Meanwhile RJ or whoever our QB was at the time already mentioned audibling into the play call to beat Vandy.

The moment I became a darksider.
